That's awesome! Let us know how install goes!

When did you order? I ordered 11/4 and the ETA from order e-mail says 11/30. Haven't gotten any updates on my end.

Hmm. Interesting. Thank you! Maybe I'll get it sooner than the original ETA.

Update here: I got this piece a week ago, and try as I might, I cannot get the original to pop out like one person here did. Maybe I'm too worried about breaking something, or my trim tools are too soft, but it sure seems to take a lot of force...

I'm noticing that the part you have to pry against is also the glass of the console buttons (I think they're glass). Seems to be the only place where there's a large enough gap for a tool (without dimpling or scratching the other surrounds).

If anyone can confirm it definitely pulls out from the top, that'd be great. Mine seems to be in there really good and something's gotta give.

Yes it take some force just gently apply it. Pry from top and then from the side. Mines didn't marr or dimple the plastic but you could always apply painters tape if you are worried about it.

Don’t pry with a tool it won’t pop out. Take the center console from off and unscrew the entire shifter console out. Then you can release the tabs out and pop the badge out.

That's not true. You don't need to take off the center console.
I did pry and it popped out without a problem.

Has anyone tried any laser engraving for the gloss part above where it says M3/M4? I was thinking that would be a great place to put your instagram QR code / screenname or something.

Mine from getbmwparts showed up yesterday. Took 3min to install with a trim tool.

Best place to pry is on the bottom and right sides. Use painters tape to protect the console.

Will try again tomorrow. Did not have much luck today. Will give your method a go.

I bent 3 trim tools so far, no luck. I'll try bottom and right sides next.

Has anyone tried putting their thumb on the left side above the e-brake and just pushing it to the right and pulling it out?

I just tried doing it on mine

Won’t come out
Either I’m
- scared to break it if it doesn’t or this doesn’t work.

Can anyone who’s already done it create a video?

I mean, if it takes 5 minutes to do why not help out everyone else who is trying?

Not an insane request, right ?

Do you mind showing us how you did it in a video? Because there are handful of people trying who can’t do it and neither can I.

It feels like it’s clipped on

Since you’ve stated it can be done instantly
Do you mind showing some of us how you did it?
I would appreciate it
Mine seems it doesn’t want to come out
Others are having a hard time as well.

We would really appreciate it

Mine comes up a bit from the front but then it stops almost like the back is clipped and unless we are 100% sure it comes out … we risk breaking the thing

If you have the new part in your hand you can see where the clips are. They are quite small and not very grabby, so it's really just a matter of massaging it until it pops out.

You might use 2 trim tools and go at it from the bottom and right sides at the same time. With mine, I had worked to pry the bottom side a bit, and then worked on the right side and it just popped up.

Before trying the right side I spent time working the left side with my finger as I thought I might be able to get a good enough grip, but no go. Didn't have any luck getting a trim tool in there either, and didn't want to try too hard since you're rubbing up against shiny black plastic without a good way to protect it.

IMHO, as long as you have the surrounding silver trim protected there is little risk of breaking anything. Of course, always mod at your own risk.

Sucks you guys are having a hard time, but yeah once it comes up a bit in the front move your pry tool to the rear or side pry again that's when mines came free. Here's the crappy pics i took doing it showing where I had to pry. I didn't tape with painters tape but do recommend doing that but I had no damage or scratches. A few of us has done this so not sure if some are tougher than others to get out.

Maybe I have trash trim removal tools
The plastic broke up trying to lever it up
Just tried again for the second time
Can’t do it
The front comes up but the back or side won’t at all
Might just bring it to a dealer IDGAF
