That sounds like you haven't ordered anything. Your dealer does not have an allocation. That's the "2-3 months" before you get a number to track the process.

You can start tracking the process as soon as you have a COMMISSION number, which the dealer has if they have an actual build slot / allocation. You don't get your VIN until right before your car goes into the build process.

Ask your dealer: Do you have an allocation? If so, send me the commission number. If not, you really haven't ordered anything, you've just entered your name on his list and I would advise you to call around to other dealers to find one. Because 7-8 months is not a realistic timeframe if the dealer has an allocation. It's more like 2-4 months.

Does anyone remember the link where you can plug in your VIN number to see a visual representation of your car?

Great sticky. I've referenced it a bunch of times. I have a G80 manual that just got to port in Bremerhaven. I've read wait times at port from 2-3 days to 4 weeks. It looks like there are quite a few ships scheduled over the next few days/weeks to be leaving for my delivery port. I would assume it will make it on to one of the ships, but looking if anyone has any insight.

I have been in Bremerhaven since the 8th. I need a ship to Port Hueneme California. The NYK Line schedule shows a few ships coming up on their website, but they don’t show up when I check expected ships at Bremerhaven using Vessel Finder. I’m hoping for one of these as they have less ports to stop at. The W/W line shows one RoRo on 11/21 but over a month of sea time.
I know that cars have to be scheduled to depart on a ship before they actually make it to the port. It’s frustrating that we cannot access it.

Have you had any luck? Still at port? My car arrived on the 14th. I tried calling Genius to see if they'd tell me the ship. No luck. They said it wasn't assigned yet. I was under the impression it was assigned before it left the factory as you said. Mine is going to Brunswick. I saw some of the routes you mentioned that leave on the 21st. I'm hoping I'm on one of those.

For Brunswick, Morning Laura departs on the 21st, Tamerlane on the 22nd, Arc Commitment on the 25th, Morning Camilla on the 26th, Morning Concert on the 29th. You should be on one of those.

My possible ship, Pleiades Leader left this morning on its way to Emden to pick up VW,Porsche,Audi. My next possible ship is Garnet Leader which leaves on the 19th then goes to Southampton UK, then straight to California. If I don’t change to In Transit by Monday, I will call the Genius line.

I am purchasing a 2024 M3 that is in transit. It's status is listed as Priority 1 "sold". In my BMW Gararage it tracks as at port status 193 since last 11/17/2023. Is there anyway to find out what port it's sitting in and how long it has been sitting there since I found it?

Normally that means it is at Bremerhaven in Germany, waiting for a ship to bring it to its destination.

Just checking whether a FleetMon trial is still the only way to get "free" satellite-based ship tracking.

Dont really need a trial. When I tracked my ship for my first G80 I just remembered the name of the ship and just searched.

That will get you terrestrial AIS information, which works great when the ship is close to shore. You won't get any updates when it's out to sea, though; you have to pay for satellite AIS data for that.

I'm very confused now. My car moved to In Transit this morning. I called BMW Genius to get the ship name. They told me Athens Highway and it was expected to arrive in Brunswick on 12/9. Now that I think about it, they may not have said Brunswick. I just recall 12/9 as I felt that was earlier than expected. They said it left on 11/25.
I checked vesselfinder and marinetraffic. Both show it in transit to Bremerhaven expected to arrive today. The past track also shows it coming from Antwerp heading to Bremerhaven and turning northwest away from Bremerhaven. I couldn't find the ship on WW or KLine to confirm the schedule. The only ship I found on either site that left on 11/25 was Apollon Highway. It's scheduled to arrive in Brunswick on 12/12.

I was told the same thing about mine. Maybe we were loaded on in Antwerp. I think there is a BMW port there too. Is that possible?

Great question. I hadn't heard of any other port besides Bremerhaven. I don't know.

Called BMW Genius for status today. At port of transit and has been there since October 27 which makes a month today. Production date is listed as 10/25, so they spent little time getting it to the port. BMW Genius, who was very nice btw, said vehicle should make its way on to a ship any day, she stated she hasn't seen one take more than 5 weeks in sometime now. Fingers crossed I'll have it by Christmas!

I suspect the Genius has some mixed info. Athens is heading to Bremerhaven now. I checked the ports over the past year and they're all to Japan. I found Athens Highway on the KLine schedule for Europe to Far East - https://www.klineglobalroro.com/schedules.html. As I mentioned before, the only ship that left Bremerhaven on 11/25 on their schedules is Apollon Highway. I can see how it's easy to mix up Athens with Apollon. Hopefully it's on Apollon Highway and arriving early Dec. I'll check back with Genius in a few days to see if they've got it straightened out. I'll also see if they can provide the BOL number. That will really let me confirm the cargo.
