They aren't complaining about the center exhaust, they are just finding something to complain about

I'm interested if BMW does come out with any aero or performance difference with these, or if it's pure aesthetics.

Looking at the rear of the side skirt I can’t fathom this ibeing for aesthetics. It has to be function over form.

Finally a proper looking exhaust on an m car. BMW should hire me as a critic of their designs they would have such improvements way ahead of competition, which I m sure half of this board would be good at this job too

Yes, advantage is modern design for a sporty car.

It's simple as that. No aerodynamic purpose, just making money purpose.
Yeah I'm not sure this is a GTS/CSL, could just be a bunch of money making options. How to get your $65-70K M3/M4 to $100K

If this is indeed the m-performance exhaust, it seems they're taking a page out of the 991.2 book by moving the position of the pse exhaust from twin outboard to centered.

Because looks are subjective to humans as evidential by fashion trends. What looked subpar suddenly looks awesome then it doesn’t and then it does again. There’s no truth in looks just opinions and opinions tend to change over time.
Definitely a departure from BMW's classic timeless designs

In the latest copy of the CCA magazine, the current M Chief touches on this in regards to his M Coupe:

The upcoming M3 M4 might not sell well

That's one hell of a justification

Hard to overcome ugly

That sounds insane, who will add those skirts and wing to a standard G8X? And that exhaust modification must be serious $$$ including new diffuser and likely muffler as well for optimal connection points and internal flow, as a full performance exhaust system plus diffuser plus work I don’t want to think what the price tag would be.

And you probably need to add all aero not to end up with poor balance.
