Which brake pads y’all using on track?
Had two track days with my M4CX so far. Pretty impressed with the OEM pads so far, esp after flushing with Motul RBF660. No fade, good pressure, and stopping, but this was on the OEM Pirelli tires. Tracked a 2020 Supra before this and was on Counterspace garage pads, and tried the carbotechs, but they are $$$. Thinking of just buying the BMW brake warranty and just sticking with OEM unless the aftermarket pads offer that much of an advantage.

How were the CSG pads? I'm debating between those and Cobalt for the G80…
Price-wise, all seem to be similar - crazy expensive compared to F8x. |

Did my first track event (with this car, had done a few in my E46 years ago) this week at Road America, fully stock and never experienced fade. That said I wasn't pushing it to the limit, partially due to not having high temp fluid and of course first time at this track and with this car. Definitely don't feel I need to change to track pads with my current abilities, which is very different compared my E46.

I was able to get roughly 120 miles of track time and 10 mile of auto X on the stock pads before triggering the rear pad sensor.
replaced with EBC blue and got roughly 250 miles of track time out of them before triggering the rear break sensor. I went from 8mils to around 2 in one track day. I have the cobalt pads now, just got back from a weekend track event roughly 180 miles, and they still look brand new, i didn't measure them, but plenty of pad left (checking after every session as no sensor) i can only see the outside, but ill take the wheels off this coming weekend and take a more in depth look, no problems on track during 20 minute sessions |

The CSG pads they recommend for the Supra are a different compound than the one they have for the G8X. The compounds they had for the Supra were amazing, seemed to last forever and didn't squeal on the street. Unsure how the compounds they have for the G8X would compare, it seems they went with a softer compound for the G8X.

How did you flush fluid? Read a post that it was a PITA to drain the fluid and had to have BMW do it

I haven't done it yet myself on the G8X. Does it have anything to do with setting the parking brake for the rear caliper into service mode? If so, the bimmerlink app can do it without a computer. You can use the same OBD cable we use for bimmerlink. Sucks that you have to buy a separate app, but it's wasn't too expensive and you get some other nice functions out of it.

The only glitch I can think of with the bmw brake warranty is that you would have to wear them down to the sensor before they replace them. You can’t put on a fresh set of pads before your track day anytime you want. |

Are any of you guys using the Carbotech x-20 or x-12? Any feedback? The guys at Carbotech are telling me the x-20 may be to much pad for Cup2 connects.

XP12s should work well enough. EDIT: XP20s are wonderful. XP12s might wear out quicker relative to the XP20. XP20 have more stopping power and should be treated accordingly, so plan on threshold braking to avoid overwhelming the tires and ABS.

XP20s will have higher torque but also a greater working temperature range so you won't burn through them as quick as the XP12s. The braking power is addicting but don't overdo it.

I'm using XP-12 up front and XP-10 in rear with GYSC3R and works very well at VIR, CMP and NCCAR so far. Pulling more than 1.3G in braking Also, I'm an intermediate drive who can overheat the brakes lol

I've been running stock pads so far, but I've been burning through them quickly even with cooldown laps. I'll be switching to MX-72 Plus + Girodiscs after my current set. Will report back once I get some track time in them, but I expect the fade resistance and wear will improve substantially.

Are the wear sensors an audible squeal? Or do they trigger a dash light?
We just had our first track day at Road America and are completely hooked. So I am trying to get a handle on wear before we go to our next track day. We have about 15,000 miles on our stock pads and are wondering how close on average we are to needing new pads. We did buy the extended warranty so I think we are covered on pads and rotors through 75,000 miles. I was worried about some stories I heard about these chewing through rear pads and rotors (possibly due to stability control intervention). But we are almost always in RWD, which as I understand it uses throttle for traction control.

I saw that you are planning to use the Endless MX-72 plus, will this be just for track or also for everyday use? |

I’ve got 9.5k miles on mine with two full track days…I drive fairly hard on the track…still on the first set of OEM standard brake pads. Tho I can see the rear pads are about to give up the ghost, so I’m curious how long until the check brake light comes on. But even on track I have yet to see any brake fade. My tires running temps above 200 F give up traction (brand new PS4S this last go around) long before anything brake related happens.

Follow up question, why did you choose the Endless MX-72 plus? From the forum, it seems the favorable brake pads are ECB or Isweep? There's seldom any topic on the endless brake pads?
