I've never seen roll or drag racing where no one actually calls out a start. How TF did these guys even start, just when they got to 70 kph?

Bizarre.

I think there are cones on the side of the road that serve as a start marker. You can see them at ~8:05.

Buy the wing if you don’t have the cash or can’t stand the grill, otherwise the G80 walks that thing in pretty much every configuration. Drag race… check. Roll race… check. Road course (Nurburgring G80 data)… probably. Tunability… definitely check. Ok ok, grandmas panties, the caddy wins.

Well, if outright power is your goal, then absolutely. But on the intangibles of peerless driver engagement, chassis dynamics and manual transmission, almost every review gives the nod to the Blackwing.

Uh, no it’s not just outright power buddy, it’s sheer performance. I’ll give you the more engaging manual, but the blackwing is still the performance loser. I mean even with the “no lift shift”. it loses every race 🤣. How about a comp, or an xDrive? Sure go get the 10 speed caddie! PS if I wanted “peerless driver engagement” it sure the heck wouldn’t be any 4,000 lb sedan with a bunch of electronic wizardry 🤣

They had cones for the roll race and a dude standing on the side of the road to start the drag race.

Nice to see the M3 walk the CT4-V Blackwing.

Take your argument to all the journalists and car review publications. Regardless, they’re both fantastic cars…the M3 is certainly dominated by its phenomenal, world-class engine, that’s for sure.

This makes me LMAO. The guy said the CT4 has a "superior" 6-speed tremec & it "feels" much better. Then gets easily embarrassed & walked on every attempt against the G80 M3. These cars are almost identical in weight. So CT4 must be really down on power + horrible gear ratios. Even a heat soaked S58 can't be beaten. Cadillac should hang it up, go back to the drawing board & stick to reminiscing about the glory days of the CTS-V.

No one cares about the CT4-V BW, it's all about the CT5-V BW.

Just like no one cared about the ATS-V lol.

Pricing wise it's not a comparison but I highly doubt anyone is going to buy a CT4-V BW over an M3 no matter how fugly the G80 looks.

Please give me “all” (as in 100%) of the car review publications and journalists that have tested both cars TOGETHER (that don’t bend over for GM)… or should I just spoil it altogether by telling you Motor Trend rated the M3 overall the winner in a head to head comparison?

Stick with the affordability argument… or picking up “hot” 80 yr old grannies who will drop their panties to ride in a caddie.

I’m referring to “all the reviews” that give the nod to the BW. I wasn’t inferring that all of them did. And for what it’s worth, I’m a sensible car enthusiast who appreciates all performance cars for what they bring to the table. The M3 and CT4-V BW excel in different areas. I’m glad they’re both offered.

Half the video is useless spec talk…no matter how much bmw under rated the cars it’s not 150 Hp as the difference in speed. M3 gaps ct4 easily.

The only version of caddy’s I like is cts-v wagon and newer cts v with corvette z06 motor. Others are just not comparable to European rivals

I'm sure the Cadillac is great to drive. Whoop dee doo. No one's gonna remember a Cadillac CT-whatever-the-fuck 10 years from now. M3 is the benchmark for a reason.

C&D numbers showed a huge difference in acceleration numbers between the two. Look at that time to 130 lol. Seems like more than the 30hp paper difference.

I believe this is CT4, M3C rwd, M3C awd

This thread is a goldmine for marketing research experts. Even if the Cadillac produced better performance numbers, would it convince M3 enthusiasts to instantly switch their allegiance? Of course not.

So marginal performance deltas aren't the deciding factor. The brand value is a very complex but impactful metric, not always quantified but always felt and experienced.

To this date, GM is still recovering from Roger Smith era and Cadillac is still a GM brand.

From https://fortune.com/2013/04/03/histo...t-auto-chiefs/

Roger Smith, CEO, General Motors
1981-1990 When Smith took over, GM's U.S. market share was 46%. It was 35% when he left. In the process, he wasted billions trying to revive the sagging giant through diversification (EDS and Hughes), automation (robotized factories), reorganization (two superdivisions B-O-C and C-P-C), commonization (GM-10 cars) and experimentation (Saturn). Smith's legacy was a fleet of low-quality, lookalike autos, an unqualified successor, and a mountain of debt that pushed the company close to bankruptcy in 1992.

In 2022, GM's US market share was 17%, or a painful half when Roger Smith left as a CEO. Despite $ billions invested in new models, GM continued to lose market share.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/...manufacturers/

The bright spot: GM's full size SUVs - Tahoe, Escalade, Yukon. Cannot make enough.

Wasted 15 minutes of my life and all the time I kept thinking of the clowns at Car and Driver who have appointed the Black Wing as the holy grail of this segment.

Cadillac and the CT line is completely irrelevant:

2023 (January to May) sales:
- CT4 2,711 units
- 3 series 6,571 units

2022 full year sales:
- CT4 9,720 units
- 3 series 30,400 units

Source: carfigures.com

Oh but wait, the chassis and handling of the CT4/5 Blacking is so ethereal. LOL.
