Not anymore. HP Tuners unlocked Global B and made an announcement a few days ago. It's $1500 for a manual and $1800 for auto unlocked. Mailed in on site unlock and mailed back obviously. Tapeout Tuning has been working with them since before the announcement and already has options in place.

Is there real life evidence of this or is this purely anecdotal?

Was saying this based on Lighting lap results and the 2:52 run by one of GM engineering team driver done in front of car and driver team.

I will eventually find out by myself, the crowd is much smaller and I suspect most of the enthusiasts using them on track aren't much on forums and such.

I hear both Caddy's are excellent to drive from a dynamics perspective.

Having said that, I would expect a factory driver to be faster than any magazine editor.

What I'd want to know would be what time the C&D driver achieved in the 4BW vs. the M3.

Found it.

VIR:
4BW - 2:55.6 (2022) & 2:54.6 (2023)
M3CX - 2:53.48 (2022)

Pretty negligible.

The lightning lap break down for the cars stated the 4BW made it to apex faster while the Xdrive won on corner exit thanks to the extra grip. Plus the 3 Comp has a solid 60whp advantage.

Too bad you didn't live in MI. Since GM is based here, you would get to meet various members of the engineering teams that work on the Corvettes, Blackwings, Camaros at track days. There are quite a few that frequent them. It's a neat experience getting to meet the lead engineer who designed your car and talk about all the things they did.

It clearly outpaces a 6mt M3 like I have, I have cooling ducts, endurance pads (will be needed on BW too), 295 square wheel setup and waiting for M performance suspension just trying get the car to feel good, 1/2 times 3rd gear will crunch when going in on the back straight even with delay valve removed. There is no mode that feels 1:1 throttle input, It's artificially too tamed or too jumpy, you got MDM or everything off, I don't have 10 stage traction in this one but found it not very good in the M4. Didn't even talk of having to run -3.0 of camber so you don't destroy the tires in 2 sessions.

The only M3 worth it right now is the CS but it's gonna be smoking brakes and busted tires after your first track day. But it's just way too expensive anyways...
