'23 G82 doesn't have iDrive 8?

Hey Folks, is the '23 G82 not getting iDrive 8?

Right now the '23 G82 is up on BMWUSA with iDrive 7. Its has some of the removals and additions of the '23 model so I'm wondering...where is the new iDrive system?

Is there any news or links I can read up on?

I tried this >

G82 and G83 will not be getting the LCI until the 2024 models release next year.

The LCI is currently only for the 2023 G80s.

Do you really want iDrive 8?

Baffling to me also. Switched over to an M4 so I could get the last of the Idrive 7’s.

Idrive 8 saves BMW money as bolting a single screen onto the dash is so much cheaper to produce than separate screens and physical buttons. Happy my G82 will have idrive 7

I highly doubt that's the case.

No proof of that. Most people hating are either experiencing severe buyers remorse or didn't get used to it. Just like every BMW fanboy waiting to buy this car now hating on the grills just over a year ago…

Not sure how true this is.

ID8 also comes with a few new part numbers for the G80 including a new amplifier which anecdotally seems to correct some of the lack of fullness in the G80 sound system.

I'm happy that I'll be getting a 2023 model this late into 2022 , would be a shame to have a car that is essentially "a year old" when you receive it.

No chance I’d buy my G82 if it had iDrive 8, no physical buttons, looks like an i3, AC controls? FINGERPRINTS?? SUNS GLARE? If I wanted this I’d buy a Tesla, first disappointing thing BMW has ever done to this interior. Watching my friend go through 10 complex menus to turn on an AC is not something I enjoy on his Tesla. It’s already bad enough BMW no longer has the DCT transmission and it’s an 8 speed auto with a useless shift knob.

While I’m ranting, what the hell were they thinking making only the base come in manual AND tuning the power down.. I want a real driving experience but can’t have a competition model. Automatic should be the base model for the 60 year olds going to their corporate job in their automatic M car.

Saying fingerprints and sun flare is quite ignorant. I drive 7 is a touch screen you're saying you've never touched it or it never gets fingerprints. Also The screen is curved and angled to avoid the glare of the sun and you'd only get sun glare the worst if you had a sun roof. Bmw unlike Tesla will always have a dedicated area in the bottom of the screen no matter the app or screen you're on to immediately take you to climate. It would take you one second longer to change it through ID8 or you can use "hey Bmw" which is what they want you to use.
