So I traded My G82 Xdrive in for a 22 Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio. I got good money for it so why not...
This car is a big change after 6 straight M cars for me. Some may think I'm nuts but this car is so good I highly recommend driving one! We shall see if reliability is that bad. I hope not, It's my DD I ceramic coated her with Gyeon pure evo. Also just had the all the windows tinted and windshield in xpel prime xr. Windshield tinting is a game changer for heat and glare! That's all not moding this car. After driving it for a while I come to find some stand out things I think are better done than the G8X imo. I had about 20k miles driven between my G80 and G82. First the steering is so direct and fast with better feel but it never feels darty on the highway. It's lighter than any M car I have had. Second the suspension is done much better for the street at least. It feels more sofiticated, better damped and soaks up the bumps significantly more, yet gets very firm in race mode without being jarring. Never crashes on road imperfections. It drives like it weights less than the G8X even if it's not. Third the transmission is just better tuned and feels more DCT like going up and down the gears. Exhaust sounds very cool and different, much louder than G8X. No fake pumped in noise. More emotional experience along with the big aluminum paddles. Both cars drink fuel when pushing them. Alfa is worse in that regard. Alfa has more of a Jeckle and Hyde personality. You would never know how crazy this car becomes in normal mode. BMW has much more adjustability with programming your M modes. I will miss the 360 cams and better infotainment with Idrive. Along with wirless Android Auto. In the Alfa you have to plug the phone in. I thought I would miss the HUD, but I'm not. Interior is not as technology filled and feels more form fitted smaller and simplistic. |

sweet... I did the opposite... QV to M3.. all because of the 6speed manual.
Get a exhaust valve controller and you will be heaven. BTW I have wheel spacer and Madness Power tune box for sale. Let me know if you interested. |

I test drove one and agree with your opinions. CT4-V Blackwing trumps both the AR and BMW on steering and suspension attributes, but the AR is a lot closer in terms of feedback to the driver. I am waiting to see what they do with a possible 2023 refresh to both interior tech and the front end. Should know soon. But the reliability is a huge concern for me, and I don't lease so the massive depreciation is a bummer. If the car had proper reliability, I would not care about the value loss, as I would purchase and keep it long term.

She's a real beauty.
From all the reviews I've seen it's a purer driving experience than both the F8x and G8x. My dad used to lease a regular Giulia and even the steering and suspension in that was phenomenal. However it did have to make a few trips to the dealer mostly due to electrical gremlins. If it came in manual I'd have seriously considered it. |

I test drove one before I bought my F90, a lovely car to drive and the engine note is superb. However, one hour into the drive, it did break down! Unfortunately AR in the UK have a terrible (and justified) reputation for electric failures in particular.

I love the qv but it's a 7 year old platform now and it's showing its age

Solid car. I couldn't make the change due to the lack of tech, worse interior quality and aesthetics, observed operational issues and errors during multiple test drives, and a dealership and service network that seems to be shrinking instead of expanding.
The $20-30k discount from my G82s was compelling, as were elements of the drive such as the exotic-feeling fixed aluminum shift pedals and exhaust note in Race (though that required DSC OFF in the older ones that I drove). Check the tires - the ones that I drove that made the best impression all had PZero Corsa (essentially Cup 2 equivalents). The steering better matched the chassis with those tires; otherwise, the steering seemed faster than the car's actual handling capabilities. The speed of the steering gave the car a short wheelbase kind of feel (a la M2 or similar), which I enjoyed. If Alfa went all-in and offered a 10-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, I'd buy one. That's what they need to steal customers away who are otherwise unsure about the brand. I don't know how BMW sold a single F80 with this car available in 2016. |

Both the Alfa and my M4 were 84 k and change but I got $93,500 trade in on M4 with 10k miles on it. I wanted to try something different and it's been awesome so far. Plus you don't see a ton of them on the road. I have seen 4 other G8X in my area driving around. |

if you moved from an xdrive g8x to this it must of been pretty good.
that being said and I totally understand your decision, I wanted to like the g8x coming from an f8x but I felt it was plagued with lackluster steering feel and a numb driving experience plus it felt so much bigger than the older f8x platform. I personally was blown away when I drove a 2019 QV, but like others was concerned about the limited dealer support and multiple reports of reliability issues. I guess by now 2022, after 5 years of producing this model, AR should of addressed the concerns.. fingers crossed. |

When your driving the car it feels much smaller like M2 size to me. I think this engine is a masterpiece it's smoother than both S55 and S58 once you start reving them out. I will be on the highway at 5k rpm and it feels like 2,500 rpm. It's weird. No harshness. It feels like the car would Rev out over 8k. S58 has boost lag or maybe its turbo threshold. Even in sport plus. Alfa has a instant boost feeling. I never felt a turbo engine like this. I have had so many turbo cars. |

I've been thinking about the QV lately. Mainly because you never see them, and every review talks about the lively character of the car.
I do love my G80, but man do I miss the character and experience in my old E90 M3. From what I've gathered, the QV would be more of a special feeling car. I'm digging the new color too, Montreal Green? Looks a lot like IoMG. |

Alpha Romeo has always had problematic cars. Sporty and sexy yes, but just say no, no, no!

Gorgeous Alfa! It's a better sports sedan than the M cars. However after 4 breakdowns in traffic, a few of them VERY dangerous locations, I had to dump it for a loss. Went back to M cars, and while they do not have the magic driving experience, the engine STARTS when you need it to LOL. Alfa POS.
Imagine your car just stalling out for over an hour for NO reason in school line for kids. Another time in a 4 lane road left hand turn lane! Another blocking the entrance for a parking garage with young kids in the car. Friggin joke. Dealer was clueless. Said I need to keep the gas over 1\2 tank or its subject to stall out. I was praying, no lie, when I was trading it in that it would start during the appraisal. Its that bad to own an Alfa. Hope you have better luck than me.
