I have always been really disappointed by the selection of Colorado license plates, wishing for some more attractive options like what California, Texas and New York offer. When I registered my G80 I just went with the regular green plates cause there wasn't anything better, until a co-worker showed me that these historical plates are now available. The solid color plates give us some better options to match our cars, I ended up ordering the black ones to match my white G80.

Yeah I ordered mine online, thought about the blue and white but opted for the black and white

I initially tried to do it online, but it was prompting me to go through the whole personalized plate review process again which I thought was weird. 5min phone call and he was just able to re-order plates in the new style without much fuss.

Good question, and I actually don't know for sure but got the impression when ordering online that it would keep you existing number?

Sorry, last question -- what number did you guys call to get these plates ordered? Just the main DMV line (i.e., 303-205-5600)?

Your county DMV. State DMV can’t do anything for you.

Did you order yours back on the 20th when you started this thread? Did your plate numbers change?

I'm guessing mine will be another week or 2 since they are personalized (my standard white/green showed up after about a month).

I think ordered mine a couple of days before I posted this thread, pretty sure it took 3 weeks to get them. I did get a new number as well as a new registration, however it does still expire at the same time as my previous one.

FYI folks.

I ordered mine from the DMV on 44th on Feb 3rd, received them yesterday on the 22nd. So their ~20 day turn around from order seems pretty spot on for my order.

I've been through two sets of these plates so far. Both arrived warped/bent in the same place and is very obvious it's from the stamping process or whatever they are calling it now. Working with the DMV to get it resolved and it has been an adventure so far. If anyone else has had this issue with the black plates please let me know.

Hmmm, I actually noticed this on mine as well. Was it like a round dent in the middle right side of the plate?

Not super obvious when it's on the car, but I can see it.

Yes and if you lay the plate on a flat surface you may also see that the edges on the top and bottom of the right side have a wave to them. From the back, you might also see the impression is more shallow at those spots as well. I'm working with a county level supervisor at the moment but it sounds like this will need to get to the state level before anything is done about it.

I was able to keep my same plate number.
