I plan on calling Genius on Thursday. I know there was a ship that left to NY on the 3rd and 4th but it takes a day or two to update. I keep checking the tracker and get disappointed, I've been toying with the idea of adding the M performance bits at port but decided against it.. it better not have done anything to the car at the port of exit!

It varies. According to a thread on this subforum, the stop sale can hit as late as entering VPC, and as early as exiting QC. I'm keeping an eye on mine, but RockinPA has no stop sales and his car is on a boat, our cars were made a day, if not, hours, apart. So hopefully BMW got our car parts together since our builds are pretty similar.

I check my stop sales daily and nothing has come up yet, my car completed production a day after yours and RockinPA. Cars that are destined for Europe usually get stuck in QC waiting for the stop sale to be resolved and all of the ones built in Week 50 left the factory without a hiccup, so I'm assuming they got a shipment of RAM modules in.

Mine finished production on 12/20 and I'm still in QC…maybe only some left the factory.

This is my car's progress so far.

11/24 Production begins. Est completion 12/13
12/7 Exterior body assembly begins
12/8 In the paint booth
12/9 Entering the assembly line —> assembly in progress
12/13 Quality Check
12/18 Dispatched from factory
12/20 At the port
12/28 departed on the Atlas Leader with an estimated arrival to Port Hueneme on 1/26/22

Have your CA check for stop sales. According to the Genius', they're the best ones to check on that. Genius "can" too but I guess aren't supposed to - per a couple I've spoken to. Some may offer the info anyway and some won't. Just ask your CA to check.

Hopefully everyone gets their cars before too much longer!

Spoke to Genius today, and there's no real change - cars are just sitting at port. He said to check back in Friday or next week to see if these week 50 cars have been assigned a ship yet. Gotta remember there are thousands of other cars waiting at Bremerhaven too, so it'll take some time. RockinPA and the west coast guys got pretty lucky!

Can Genius really see the ship assignment before it has left the port? Feels like the genius always just relays the online tracker info.

Genius cannot see the ship assignment before it has left the port. They themselves always say that their systems show a day or two after the car has been on board. That being said, BMW's Genius often have insight from experience and are sometimes a few hours ahead.

I've also closely looked at the vessels that BMW typically use to transport cars to NY, and it looks like the only one I can find is transported by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Ocean. They have several ships leaving Bremerhaven this month. They had one leave on the 3rd and I was hoping my car would be on it, but it looks like it wasn't. The next ship leaves Bremerhaven on the 10th (arrives at NY on the 24th), then the 12th (arrives at NY on the 26th), then the 19th (arrives at NY on February 3rd), then the 23rd (arrives at NY on February 10th), and then the 29th (arrives at NY on February 17th).

If my car gets on a ship on the 10th or 12th and there aren't any holdups at the N.J. VPC, then I think I can safely say it'll be in my possession either the last week of January, or the first week of February. This can apply to those that have arrival ports at N.Y. too, and how far they are from the N.J. VPC.

I think I'll stop looking at the tracker for the time being lol.

I just called Genius and they're telling me the car is still at the factory in the QC process.

Do dealers have a different system to check status?

I think it's fair to say that CA's are more prone to error than BMW Genius guys/gals. In all likelihood, your car is still at QC. Call again in a few days and call your CA too, your CA may have mixed something up since the online tracker is also pretty damned accurate.

Officially in transit! I'll call Genius later today to find out what ship it's on, but it's likely on the WWO and will be in NY on the 24th. Maybe delivery before the month is over.

Just spoke to Genius, my M3 is on a ship called Asian Vision, due to arrive at NJ port on the 27th. Bah, so much for ships only taking a few days to get to the east coast
