No, I never got any answers, but I suspect the rears would probably fit all around. I ended up ordering the whole OEM setup just to avoid any possibility of issues. Not sure when they'll come in, but I was tired of thinking about it, and I wanted to make sure I have a winter set before it's too late...
I appreciate this point of view as I'm about there as well, but do you mind telling me exactly what OEM set up you went with?

I’m tired of waiting for other options as well and don’t want any hang ups as my car should arrive mid November and I’ll need the winter set up right away. I’m ordering OEM 826Ms from Alloy Wheels Direct , a rep suggested the Toyo Snowprox if I want to save a little money, they are about half the price of Michelin, etc. Anyone have any thoughts on them? I’ve seen mostly good reviews/ratings and a cpl that indicated snow performance wasn’t great. I’m thinking as long as it’s a winter compound with a winter tread they should be fine.

I went with the 829M as BMW specs them: I believe 9x19 fronts and 9.5x19 rears but the tires are the same all around.

I am curious, what is the point of the wider wheels in the back if the tires sizes you'd use are the same?

I have no idea. Only thing I could think of was some sort of clearance issue or something to do with handling. Regardless, I went with what they recommended lest they try to ding me with any warranty issues, etc.

Just providing an update on the center caps (if anyone needs this info). I stumbled across a perfectly seamless solution that looks stock. Instead of double-sided taping the BMW emblem, simply remove the one that came with the MSW center caps and literally snap in the BMW ones. They fit as if they were made for it, no tape, just a snap in!!!

Just spoke to my dealer they are offering a winter wheel/tire package for the G/80 - G/82, I think its a good deal. $3907 for the 829M wheels with Michelin Alpin tires. Comes with tpms and center caps and road hazard protection. My dealer is also including one year of storage.

Good price from a dealer for OE wheels, but terrible deal overall. The 20 inch options on Tire Rack available now are OZ and BBS wheels at 600 to 900 per wheel. That's a no-go for a winter setup.

Hopefully more options are available soon otherwise my car will have to sit out this winter season.

I don’t see any other wheel on tire rack when I search by make other than the 19” MSW Type 30. Since you consider $3900 a terrible deal for an OEM wheel w Michelin Alpins , what’s a better option? How much is a reasonable price for a full set of wheels/tires with tpms & center caps ? I did see on the BMW site that the 829M is a cast wheel though not forged. Not sure I care all that much but was surprised , thought all M wheels were forged.

Yep, cheaper and uglier.

19 v 20

Looking at the OEM snow tire wheel combo from BMW but don't 100% love the look. There's some square 20s I've seen that look good. In terms of function, I like being able to rotate the square setup but understand that comes at the cost of decreased sidewall protection. Any other downsides to a square 20 setup?

It's about 500 per wheel for a wheel that isn't all that great to begin with. The Michelin Alpin wouldn't be my top choice for a winter tire either.

The 19 inch square setup (albeit ugly wheel) from Tire Rack when it was available with the Vredestein winter tires, TPMS, mount/balancing, and shipped to your home for 1500 less. No BMW center caps. If you could find the Nokian R3 tires instead and get them mounted/balanced, it would be about a 1000 less for a better tire.

Compared to that, 4000 grand is a terrible deal overall.

Might want to check your math on the cheaper part. The BBS wheels are nearly 3200 (w/instant rebate of 200) without adding tires, TPMS, mount/balancing.

I guess I was looking at the 19" MSW wheels, which are even uglier.

IMHO, $4K for the OEM setup isn't a bad value.

I personally love ‘em. Had them on a previous car. I just ordered that same 829m setup with the pilot alpins (Got them for for $3,859.00 shipped). They have good dry performance and good snow performance. One of the best all around snow tires IMO.

Here’s a good comparison vid. The pilot alpins did very well:

Very interesting, thanks for posting.

I already have purchased the Michelin's, just waiting for my wheels to get delivered. After seeing this, I would've debated a bit more whether to get the Blizzaks. We do get serious snow out here, but the roads are pretty consistently plowed, so I'm more likely to see cold wet (treated) roads or cold dry (treated) roads. Since there's no guarantee that every road and driveway I may have to travel would be plowed in time though, I'm still glad I went with the Michelin's.

Under 3600 with tax (and BMW CCA discount) picked up from my local dealership. Luckily they had the set in stock. I didn't want to risk waiting longer for other options because it feels like it'll snow here in a couple of weeks.

I've spent much less on much nicer looking wheels.
