Good luck. He should pay extra for leaving the scene. You could turn him in and he'd be in some trouble for a hit&run.

Choose a well-respected, highly-recommended shop that knows how to blend paint to perfection. It's a week old, so they'll need to be hyper-anal to make sure it comes out "like new".

I would be inclined to report it. People need to be accountable. Hits your car then leaves. If the driver stopped, tried to find you or left their info, then you consider letting them pay without reporting. Oh, and you should check your policy as I suspect there is language re your accident reporting requirements.

Yeah I’m planning on it. Dropping it off to a BMW certified collision center tomm first thing. Only worry I have is they don’t have the parts and it’s stuck waiting to be repaired for two weeks. Literally backing everything up. Was planning on having PPF and Tints done before break in. Shits so frustrating

Parking with cars on both sides is always a throw of the dice. People don’t care and have no idea what their parking next to. It’s amazing to me, even when parking out in left field, how some idiot in a massive truck will park right next to me. Even with dozens of open spots around! I hope they are prosecuted for leaving the scene.

I have never leased before but this is the kind of thing that makes me think leasing may not be so bad. Someone rear ends me or hits my car in a parking lot and I take an instant and massive depreciation hit. I hope you don’t need to do that.

The same thing literally happened to me too, first month of ownership
I parked at a restaurant, since it was packed, I had no choice but to park next to a big truck, came out after dinner with this on my car, thank god it wasnt too bad and I already had PPF on the car.

If your doing a private repair make sure to pop the bonnet and inspect the headlight unit where it is bolted down.

Similar think happened on my X5 recently and the plastic where the headlight is bolted down was snapped. That plastic bit is sealed to the whole headlight unit so I had to change the whole headlight, when the actual headlight was fine…

Was the most expensive part of the repair.

I do feel like backing is a better way to park, people tend to hit people more when they go in head first because apparently, estimating depth is harder for more of the population. But then again, all this applies to people who actually “know” a thing or two about driving and who respect other people’s properties.

I guess you can’t fix bad drivers, back or front. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Report it to the cops. If there is no downside to not voluntarily leaving a note, they (and others) will keep doing this.

Get a statement in writing from the driver saying they will pay for repairs AND diminished value. Or they can just have it go through their insurance. Someone who has the moral compass that allows them to hit and run can renege on their statement later when they see how much it costs to repair, and how much the diminished value to your car is.
