It's a toss up, I started with BMW soft top convertibles and was exited for the hard top convertible for the E93/F33//F83, but it so slow to close up when caught in a thunderstorm. I'm looking forward to the soft top for the G83/G23. 👍

Prototype and "first" reviews only espouse positive sentiments. I take them with a grain of salt.

The benchmark tester for me is Chris Harris, he need to okay it, then i know it's decent.

If you look at the spec sheets for the G20 and G30 it will be around 80kg, all at the front as well of course. I'm going to guess 51-52% front for the 6MT RWD, 52-53% for the 8AT RWD and perhaps 54-55% for the AWD

The F10 M5 and F06/12/13 M6 had 680nm or 502lbft with (what was effectively) the same gearbox.

This might be the first generation of M3s that the automotive press doesn't keep harping about how the previous generation was more pure (at least in MT/RWD spec)/better...Wow.

Interesting, why is there a 5 inch gap over the front? Is this for the USA market?
I noticed that after schmee drove the car and walked around to the front, he held back some vomit after noticing the front body work. LOL I dunno what they have done to the car but it cannot be that good looking. |

The 479 number is wrong, the engine will have the same torque output in standard or comp @ 442.
Even the reviewers are confused some quoting the 479 figure others correctly quoting the 442 figure for both standard and comp. The 479 number may well have come from discussions around a CS version which will have more torque as it did on the F8* compared to standard/comp.

Based on the prototype review, 19" front 275, 20" rear 285.
285 / 295 setup maybe an option on competition model? The remaining questions: - Does G8x generation come with CF drive shaft? - Will G8x manual hit 3.1s 0-60, while 8-speed hit sub 2.9s given the current F90 M5 number already hit 3.1 on official number. M3 historically had faster time as compared to M5. and last but not least - Will BMW fix the first bug on the windshield from SHMEE's video @ 5:24? |

If you can afford it 911 vert is a very rewarding experience, and you don't lose too much over the coupe.

For reference BMW published times: X3M Base 0-60 time is 4.1 with 8sp auto X3M Comp 0-60 time is 4.0 with 8sp auto and 2020 M4 coupe 0-60 time is 4.1 with DCT and RWD (has 425hp) So based on the above, G80 M3 Pure (RWD 6MT) only gains a few tenths on the X3M at most. Maybe 3.8 seconds? No way this is a 3.1 second car. Remember, I'm talking BMW's published time which is always a couple tenths too conservative, but still not 3.1.

You guys can thank me for the newfound ability to turn rev matching on and off at will. With all the surveys I received from BMWNA since 2015, I’ve asked the engineers for this feature.
I also asked them to provide a track pad option, but one out of two ain’t bad.

They must not be reading my surveys, I've been asking for steering feel for the past 8-years now!
