I’ve seen the video you posted in the past. I’m just saying, that training manual is probably where this is coming from. The term “adopted” is used, as opposed to “carryover” and even then it says bearing shells were adopted, so not even the rod itself. It’s possible people misread that. I think “materials” is what’s adopted and carried over, not the physical dimensions… materials/composition of rod and bearings while making them fit the new stroke requirements as well as load spread (ie wider crank journal).

There’s plenty of blown s58 out there with bent rods. People just don’t post their Ls. The key here is to limit the tq down low. As low as you aren’t requesting 700wtq at 3k rpms and limit max wtq to 750wtq your stock rods will be fine

Drift Brothers did 944 ft/lbs torque on stock rods. 🤷*♂️

Also, to add, ironically everyone throwing out the 7xx figures for HP/TQ… those are the same figures that were there for the weaker S55 last gen engine. The S58 has fixed A LOT of design problems the old engine had… A LOT.

You shove 944 ft/lbs wtq on a stock rod S58 your rods will look like what I have attached to this post. Trust me when I tell you plenty of people have nuked their stock rod s58 they just don't post their Ls just like the B58 guys who swear up and down they don't blow head gaskets yet they need a new motor because the water doesn't compress and they have nice hole in the side of their block.

Because as I stated before people don’t like to post their Ls or failures on social media. If you ask all the top tuners on this platform (Bend, Mikey, Paul, and Samehyehia) they will tell you the same thing. Keep the wtq under 750 and ramp the boost in. This is why single turbo cars last longer. Lower EBP and your not pushing a bunch of tq at the low rpm range.

It's important to highlight that the reported failures are associated with situations involving very high boost levels. If you are using a tuner and basic bolt-ons, this should not be a cause for concern.

I’d beg to differ on Paul. That guy was royal PIA with me. 2.5 months and a ton of wasted money and time. Seriously the worst experience I’ve ever had with customer service and expectations.

maybe thats why your tuner stated that they might bend if going to aggressive with the tune cz the rods were the weak link in the s63 engine
They are not the same rods used in the s63.

You'd be an outlier... He's a legit tuner. As I've stated in a recent post regarding "best" tuners, if you're too lazy or contrite to communicate your logs, that's on you. Your tuner is only as good as his feedback, and to remotely tune a car they need communication. I have used Paul and his replies were sometimes 2-3 revisions in the same day. He's got a couple of guys who send out communication emails several times a day, so, as I said... Your experience would be an anomaly in my opinion.
