Wireless charging retrofit

I ordered this 5 days ago.

Arrived at my office but was working from home. If I get motivated I will go for a drive tomorrow and pick it up. A very easy retrofit. Will report and with some photos in a few days.

With the wireless charging, do you run AA/CarPlay and if so does it increase charge whilst running it? I have heard reports that the drain from running AA/CP wirelessly drains the battery faster than the wireless charging pad can keep up.

I absolutely hate the wireless charging.
Mine came installed from the factory and not only does it *not* charge the freaking phone, but makes it horribly hot. (I use CarPlay)

I now place the phone screen down, so as to not enter "charging" mode...

The wireless charging in my Tesla works sooo much better. It actually charges the phone without turning it in a hot brick.

Please do, I miss mine and was thinking about getting the OEM one. I know it may not charge up a phone, but if it keeps mine at a constant charge that’s all I need.

Hey guys, just registered here to confirm that new part number for wireless charger + nfc is 84105A62826. Digital key and wireless charging works like a charm, just did my mod.

I just got my M4 and the charging in the tray is poor. How much better is this retrofit? Is it worth the effort? What change have you experienced?

You have it, then there is nothing to retrofit. Some cars only came with the key reader and NOT wireless charging.

No. It enables a feature that will tell you if your phone is still on the charging tray when you turn your car off and open your door. So you don’t forget and leave your phone in the car.

Finally got around to popping this in today, having bought it last year around the same time.

Heads up to all those who have done this retrofit.

I did this retrofit without the coding and could not get my iphone to pair with digital key for the life of me. That was earlier this year.

I then used bimmercode to add the WIFI tray settings in idrive. The second I did that, my iphone would pair with the digital key process.

Flash forward... Ive had an idrive update and got a new iphone 15 pro. I lost my digital keys. I also lost the WIFI tray settings in idrive.

Went back to bimmercode to reprogram the wifi tray back into idrive. And realized I cant connect my new iphone to the USB lightening adapter since my iphone is USB C now. UGH! Ordered a USB C to Rj45 adapter and got my WIFI tray coding back into idrive this morning.

Tried doing my digital key again and BAM, it took the first time.

So if any of you all did this mod. And cant get digital key to pair. You must add the wifi tray coding (mentioned in this thread) to idrive for digital key to pair.

At least thats what I had to do.

Wireless charging isn't compatible w 6MT, console is different in the area the base goes.

The first part is not true. My 6MT has factory wireless charging. It's in a different place though, inside the center console (under the armrest).

It's rubbish, but it's there.

Confirming that 84105A62826 works flawlessly on 2022 G80 xDrive that only had NFC pad..

Key card digital key working
Galaxy S24+ digital key working
Charging multiple Samsung and Apple devices.

Did not need to set up anything after swop out.

Hardest part was disconnecting the USB connector. There is a locking pin on the right hand side that allows the connector to release if pressed
