I just spoke to my local match dealer. They quoted me 1800 on the dsp with harness and suggested upgrading to the match components which were 300 for tweets, 500 for coaxial and 5-700 for underseat woofers. Now we're arguing quality vs running new wire through the doors. I'd also not need your add a sub harness if took either those routes.

I would suggest to install just the Match amp and then decide if you want the rest of the upgrade. If you are a DIYer then you need no shop to install it.

IMO, listen to the amp/DSP first (use educar training to help you with the DSP tuning - https://www.educarlabs.com/ ) and then decide further upgrades.

I have the full set of Bavsound speakers awaiting install after I get accustomed to how the HK stock system sounds. With the big sale they just had, the speakers and the underseat woofers were $1200 shipped. I have a totally custom system in my Tacoma which was a total DIY job. The system sounds incredible but I don't really want to spend weeks tinkering with a DSP. A buddy's 3 has the full Bavsound setup and it's pretty impressive as far as clarity goes. If the need for a little more bump arises, a TechnicPNP harness and JL sub will go in the trunk. If anyone in the Phoenix metro area wants to hear it after it's in, DM me.

I haven't done any yet in the M4 but from the other cars I've done, it makes an incredible difference. My little project 2003 Ranger that I stripped to the metal and totally soundproofed had a night and day difference in the cab.

I picked up the full set for about the same, and just waiting for a nice day where I have a few free hours to do the install.

I had their full setup in my F80, and it was definitely an improvement. I didn't realize how big a difference it made until I swapped back to stock before unloading the car.

What is the verdict? Who has done this BavSound full system upgrade and what is your impression?

I don't have the Bavsound full system, but did go with the full Match upgrade. This replaces all the speakers, a new wiring harness and a new AMP/DSP.

The overall volume is much improved, but the system definitely needs to be tuned. One of the biggest problems I have noticed is that stock and with direct swap Match is the overall audio is muddled. It also seems to try to hard to get bass out of the small midranges and underseat subwoofers. which I feel like is a big part of the issue.

I have a custom enclosure on order for the trunk that will take a 10" sub and my plan is to install an AudioFrog 10" sub and their 500 watt mono amplifier. Once I get that, probably about another month, I am going to tune the system using an RTA and the DSP. Hopefully that will finally get the system to where I would it.

Installed the Ghost subs in my 22X3 M40i and was less than impressed. I purchased the whole set but after being very disappointed with the subs I took them out and sent the whole kit back. Their customer service was good but IMHO there are better, less costly options.

I had BAVSOUND system in my 22 G80 M3 and, while it is an upgrade, I will probably not go that route when my 24 G82 M4 arrives. I will probably go with JBL Sub in the trunk before doing the BAVSOUND upgrade.
