Not all 😉 funny reading some of the responses completely dismissing this. Btw, not judging, if I would have seen this post a week ago I'd have my doubts as well.

Anyone knows if the alcantara steering wheel will wear badly or will it age well? Hesitant about adding it to the new LCI M4. Have heard from some people that due to sweat and natural grease in hands, the alcantara starts fading its color and looka really bad after 6-8 months… please advise, thank you!

If your leather steering wheel looks like garbage (greasy, dirty, tears, etc), so will the alcantara wheel. They clean up really well with minimal maintenance, but again, if you don't look after a leather steering wheel this will look like crap in no time.

I do take normal care of mine, with bi-weekly leather lubricant. Just never had an alcantara one, sontrying to assess… thanks.

You will be fine. They hold up really well and feel awesome! Can't wait to buy once from the LCI!

I think with proper maintenance it should look fine for the long run.

I would caution against the language in this post. "They hold up really well" gives a sense that it won't easily be matted or dirty when the reality is, it will. Now, you can absolutely maintain it and keep it clean, but it will be work. Is it impossible? No. But will it be work, more work than a leather wheel? Yes.

I have never found this and I'm on my 2nd car (soon to be 3rd) with an alcantara wheel. Like I said, if you are someone who doesn't keep your leather steering wheel clean, of course an alcantara wheel will be just as grungy (or worse). Would I suggest an alcantara wheel over leather for my wife? No. But I also assume most people on here are enthusiasts who like to take care of their cars (more so than the average person).

Talking

GEN II Ford Lightning 1999 to 2004 seats covered in Alcantara. My 2005 330Ci ZHP (sold) had it on the wheel. Some ZHP's had it on all seats. Keep your hands clean and no trouble. I would cover with towel on seats, especially with blue jeans.

Alcantara is used loosely, there are similar fabrics. Italian manufacturer.

Garage List
I had an alcantara wheel in my C7 and in my CTR, both for about 2 years, and I never had a problem with them. I dont drive with my hands in the normal driving position, though. I pretty much just rest my left elbow on the door panel and drive with 1 or 2 fingers in the spokes.
