G82 Wind Deflector Warning

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi

I started using the wind deflector in my G83 and I am getting a "check wind deflector" warning on my dashboard. When I looked at the deflector, it appears as if there is a rubber piece that goes into the holes in the side of the car that is missing. Can that cause the warning to go off? Any way to get rid of it? The wind deflector is firmly in there.... I don't want to make a trip to the dealer if I don't need to. Thanks!

The rubber but at the end of the diffuser has likely snapped off and still stuck in the hole. Or it broken off and no longer there….

I can't believe there is any sensor referring to an accessory. Now I have to check mine for sensors...

Yes. If the deflector is in, the top can be opened/closed with one press/pull if you are moving at least 5mph

Thanks. Yep, that's exactly what broke off. I'll reach out to my dealer today.

It's annoying as it came off super easy even when I was being careful. Unfortunately the other side broke yesterday and I'm not sure why as I was being even more careful. Let me know how you get on.

Thanks

Good news. Went to local dealer and after sitting around for an hour they confirmed this is a known issues and they will order the parts needed to fix it under warranty.

My dealer is ordering the part but since that end is cracked (the part that broke off), he also quoted me $876 to replace the entire deflector. I laughed.

I'll keep you posted. I asked if they were replacing the entire unit or repairing the ends and they said repairing the ends with new part. I asked if that would solve the issue and they said if it doesn't then it's under way. Will keep you posted but clearly it's a design flaw or weakness in the product.

I put the model file up on Printables (If I am the one you were referring to):
