Still not buying it, the CF seats just look uncomfortable. And the comparison with porsche doesnt help the situation, I find porsche seats very stiff and uncomfortable for a drive longer than 30 minutes.
I feel like the CF seats were created for track owners, and people are going to buy them just bc they look sick, which I cant argue, but idk |

This is stupid thread and comes off as pompous. Fine you have no interest in the base seats but that doesn't everyone else should pass because you don't like them.

Sat in an M3 (G80) this weekend at my dealer that had standard seats. I can see the point above that the CF seats will hold you in more overall however I felt a bit tight in the back portion of the seats..tried to open them up but they were all the way open (6'0 and 190 lbs) but I am a 535 driver so..I'm used to the bigger seats. The interior looked great, nice finish overall.

As someone who has spent time with the seats as well..... OP stated he is 5'10 165 (that is the perfect size for the seats). I've commented on this topic on multiple threads and it's annoying this keeps coming up. I am 6'2 195 (28yo)... I would never want these seats if I daily the car. Track/Sunday car is one thing. Last thing you need is to sway someone to get these and then they post on here how uncomfortable they are after living with it.

Sat in both over the weekend. 6' 180
So im a thinner build. They arent uncomfortable However this decision will be based largely on use. Daily driving popping in and out of the car the buckets are going to be annoying. Wife or anyone else driving the car? They will think the buckets are annoying. Passengers often? They will probably not know how to get in lol weekend sports car? Buckets all. Day. Long. 2c |

This seat debate - like the ZCP seat debate a few years ago - is like previous M3 suspension debates: some claim(ed) the suspension is/was too stiff for daily driving while others found the suspension perfectly fine, perfectly compliant on city streets. The seats are no different. Most will be fine daily driving the CF seats, but there will be the minority who complain about the comfort (...just like they did with the ZCP seats with holes in the seat backs).

So basically someone like me who thinks the X3M comp seats are close to perfect is out of luck with the new M3? One is too cushy and the other too stiff? I am still in early 40s but have back issues from time to time so I think the carbon seats are out.

Damn I was hoping you'd say the bucket seats sucked so I wouldn't choose it as an option and be more expensive...oh well.

For me the CF seats are a track only thing. I could just imagine taking a nice 3 hour drive to Lake Tahoe, then having to deal with a numb ass and a sore back. That said if I were buying a M3/4 for just the track the sure the CF seats would make sense. For a daily or even a combo hard pass.

It is very hard to judge based on someone else's body type. We all have different spinal curvatures, shoulder widths, waistlines, torso lengths, etc. Rather than make speculative assumptions, sit in the seats and then make your determination(s) accordingly. I'm curious how much lighter the CF buckets are though.

This is going to be a thing like the Pcar GT3/RS/GT4
No LWB no care. Without carbon buckets would be a non starter. similar to how people nearly choked on their own vomit on M3's with sunroofs vs carbon roofs. |

OP, calm the f down.
The base seats are fantastic. The CFBs are just more supportive (duh). I have same sport seats in my X3M and they feel great including on track. They are comfortable and supportive. |

The regular seats look just like the X3M Comp seats. And to be fair a lot of people don't find the X3M Comp seats very comfortable. I don't mind them but IMO the regular M2 seats were more comfortable.

If you think the x3m seats are close to perfect, then the base seat is definitely your go-to. Just not my cup of tea.
