I had the reflection: "they look sharp", but also "seems a torture to get in/out". So I understand the guy says that they're fine on long trips. I'am just not certain they still are on the occasional run to the bakkery a couple of miles further on.

The CF seats were much leaner compared to regular seats.

Should've had manual adjustment (instead of electric) if they really cared about weight savings. I admit that they look great.

Might be nice as an option but I think just about anyone used to electric adjustment, will not want to go back to manual

This car still aims to also have luxury, after all.

They are an impressive seat. However, for a true street/track vehicle, Porsche has a full-carbon sport bucket, with true sub-strap capability and manual-only (read: lightweight) adjustment. It's optional in the 911 and Cayman.

BMW should offer it's M4GTS seat as a possible option (FIA-approved, 5/6pt. harness-capable, and highly lightweight).

If you want a GT car and are less concerned about driving at the track, these seats (either the sport or carbon seat from BMW) look quite nice!
FIA seats expire so would be gobsmacked if an OEM sold an expensive car that had seats that needed to be replaced every 5 years as a factory option.

Some people have been talking about removability of the carbon between the legs but we haven't seen any evidence of that in video. Can anyone confirm that?

I suspect these seats are as much or for street enthusiast to feel more connected to the car as they are for the track enthusiast. That said manual adjustments are just fine IMO but that’s maybe because I only had manual seats for many years. I draw the line at hand winded windows though...done with that

You raise a good point because that's the spec I'm thinking about. I'm still undecided on the seats.

I feel like the center bulge between the legs is meant to emulate (or actually is) the connection point for a 5 point racing harness.

In that guise, I imagine BMW envisioned the M carbon buckets in conjunction with the fastest version of the M3/4 - the Competition with 8AT.

That's why I'm concerned about getting the 6MT version with M carbon buckets. Not sure they were really meant to be paired together.

CF bucket seats are definitely one of the highlights of the G8x. Although I wonder why they thought adding the centre bulge was a good idea? It doesn't seem purposeful and appears it might compromise comfort if you know what I mean

Hideous. Orange WTF?

In fact whole interior colour palette is tacky and tasteless much like the car itself.

Not enough choice. Silverstone by far the best non-black option but even then the two tone hurts the eyes.

Agree with the other post the CF buckets are amazing and absolutely the best thing about the G8x.

That you have to pay through the nose for them as an option is an insult given the car is 10% more expensive than the outgoing model already.

Nice video, and like many have posted, I like and would option for the CF seats. That said, it would have been nice to hear more about the track functionality/performance of the seats, in particular harness functionality. After all, it has pass throughs that appear to be designed for a harness (and not just for looks hopefully). It would be great if BMW offered an OEM harness solution, I think it would sell like hot cakes. If Schroth can make DOT approved harnesses, surely BMW can (hint, hint BMW).

In the interim, hopefully Schroth is working on a clip in harness solution for the G8x CF seats - something the F8x sorely missed. Especially one that includes a 5/6 pt option (since that CF plate on the bottom cushion is supposedly removable for that purpose).

Can't deny the carbon seats look great but when using as an everyday driver up north there are too many trade offs to justify them

-$3,800 extra
-no ventilation for the hot humid summers, granted it doesn't do much on my x3m they need truly air cooled seats like other brands.
-looks like no heating for the freezing winters
-no lumbar support for those of us with back issues
Short drives I am okay but longer than 30 minutes I need that.

If there was heating (no mention on website and in the video he mentioned it for standard seats but not carbon ones) I might be okay with no lumbar but the combination of all 4 above sadly means no for me (if I order one).

Heated Front Seats is standard and available with the CF seats. The order guide states that adding '48C M Carbon Bucket Seats' will delete Standard equipment '488 Lumbar' and '712 M Sport Seats'. Does not say anything about deleting '494 Heated Front Seats'.

How do you know they blow every other manufacturer's seats out of the water if you haven't sat in them?

If you mean in terms of aesthetics, what's with that stupid dick hump? They look a little over styled and ridiculous.

I would argue that Lexus GSF/RCF seats are a great balance between aesthetic appeal and comfort.

However, I am looking forward to people getting these cars and sharing their candid opinion of seat comfort for long drives. Hopefully they are actually comfortable.
