Lemme unsave people 18 minutes: no according to someone that doesn’t know or care about your unique situation and preferences
Basically everyone on the planet earth knows CS isn’t a bang for the buck car, but its a step up from comp and a step under a the modern bmw M made car that has literally zero backseat on purpose RIP my DMs |

I also love how you specify “according to someone that doesn’t know or care about your unique situation and preferences”….no one, and I mean this honestly, needs a CS, period. You WANT one (because I assume you like to make horrible financial decisions) but no one NEEDS one. Get over yourself. -Duke |

I find all these price arguments a little bit ironic… A fully loaded competition with sport buckets etc. is only about $18k less then a comparable CS at MSRP. Someone will make comments that they could easily modify a competition to make it the same… even though I don’t agree with that argument in the first place, let’s say you add a custom suspension, forged wheels, all the aero bits, a mild tune, you’re going to end up financially similar to where it would’ve been to get a factory warranty, limited model that would eventually depreciate less, and will surely be easy to sell than a heavily modified M3 down the road.
As other posters have said, buying a production sports car is never a good financial decision, (unless it’s a GT Pcar) it’s just a passion move. The CS happens to be one that offers quite a bit for a package with four doors and daily use ability at the end of the gas car era. One thing I completely agree with… The missing cup holder is actually the biggest downfall of this entire car! |

-carbon fiber hood and other small pieces -bucket seats and removal of a few interior items (all of these weight savings of ~75lbs) -basically an alignment; adjust camber settings and rebound in the system -stiffer engine mounts -marked up price of 36K, and that’s IF you can FIND one at MSRP…I saw a stealership marked one up in Cali to 155K lol. But no no…apples to apples and totally fair comparison with that price tag and shit I could do on my own with 1/4 of that money.🙄 I see by your name you’re having buyers remorse and that’s ok. I didn’t call you a horrible person….just your financial decision making. -Duke |

All M cars are bad financial decision if you ask any financial advisor. You are buying depreciating asset.
Is CS worth it? That’s very subjective. I think pure performance wise it’s probably not but how do you factor in the uniqueness of it and limited production? Not sure. Only time will tell how much value it has over other M cars. You guys know this very well but you can buy older 911 turbo with half the performance of M3CX for double if not triple the price. Is that worth it? Maybe not to me but clearly it is to some. If you love CS and have the ability to get one. Just get one who cares what people think. |

Yes, if you think it's worth the added premium, then it is.
No, if you think it's not worth it, it's not. I certainly don't think a GT3 or 911 Turbo is twice as thrilling as a G8X, but many do. And maybe so would I, if I could stomach paying $200k for a GT3, for me to drive like 10k miles/year or less. And I damn sure don't think a V12 Ferrari could give me 4 times the feeling (at like $400k) that a G8X gives me, especially when you factor in Ferrari's ludicrous maintenance costs and such, but if you have the money, sure, maybe it's "worth" it, to you. Scully, worth is like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. Last edited by KevinGS; 06-26-2023 at 03:07 PM.. |

Oh, and the AC bill in Texas in the summer is north of $600 per month. Oh, and the monthly insurance for a family with 4 cars is $800/month Oh, and a state college tuition for out of state student is $35k/year And a 1kg of beef tenderloin is $90 Do you know how much is all that in Europe?? A fraction! So, things are relative. |

Missing cup holder and mushy brake pedal are my two gripes. I had a dealer check the brakes on my CSL as I thought they needed to be bled. Apparently it’s normal. It’s even worse on my CS (steel rotors). Must be the brake by wire calibration?
Regardless, it doesn’t instill much confidence when the brake pedal has so much play at the top and then feels like you’re stepping on a pillow when they finally do start to engage. |
