Hey guys, so I recently bought some AST lowering springs for my 2024 BMW M3 X Drive. I had a friend install them and after I took it on a test drive and I started to hear some clanking noise from the front right it really only happened when turning right so we double checked everything and it still happened so I brought it to the dealer for them to check out Got it back the next day and they told me they had to reprogram the adaptive Suspension and power steering to my new right height the clanking noise was gone for about 30 minutes then on a semi hard pull I heard a big clank and it started happening again now I hear it from the back and front. It does not happen when I go over bumps only when steering. I also added some spacers 15 mm to the front and 13 in the back. Any thoughts?

I’m guessing the noise is the spring isolator in the wrong position or something. I would email AST/whatever vendor you used to verify. The “clanking” is likely the spring binding. |

Can anyone confirm which direction springs should be installed? From my understanding, theyre still supposed to be installed with lettering upside down.
I have been getting a ton of binding noises and clunking since day 1. Ive been working with AST/Moton for months on a resolution. I've replaced nut/bolt hardware, have taken the front springs back off 5-6 times, trying to reseat things, re-torqued sway bar end links etc. and have not solved my noises. It's been incredibly frustrating.

The three closely spaced coils, with one having a spring silencer, go at the top of the strut. Also, isn't the diameter of the last upper coil slightly larger than the diameter of the first lower coil?
If your front springs did not come with an installed plastic spring silencer for the three coils that bind then that could be the cause of your noise. |

Update: got it fixed, it was the axle bolt in the middle of the wheel hub for whatever reason it had some oil on it. Put a little bit of thread locker and tightened that ho up. No more noises.

installed mine with text right side up. Bought them from European auto house in April. Which they had confirmed was the newest batch from AST. I have Zero issues with noise etc. I remember seeing that install post about the text upside down but I matched it up to the stock spring/isolater location and that would’ve been incorrect. |
