Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 285/30 R20 not manufactured anymore
Hi folks, I was looking at purchasing winter tires for my m4 xdrive, my car has the 826m 19/20 staggered wheels atm and saw that the pilot alpin 5 seemed to be the top choice winter tire for these cars. I was able to find them in the 275/35 R19 size but couldn't seem to find anything in 285/30 R20 size (checked multiple retailers). I saw some old posts and used 826m listings where I saw that other people were running 285/30 R20 so I was wondering if anyone knew if they stopped manufacturing this size for some reason. Any insight is appreciated

I ran a square set-up (275/35 R19s all around), which entailed a couple extra front rims (825Ms in my case) and spacers on the rears to restore the OEM offset.

Interesting, yeah based on other posts I'm seeing I'm leaning towards picking up a square 19in winter set

I was looking into going for a similar setup for the winter, if you don't mind me asking what was the offset of the 825s you're running which led you to getting spacers? I was thinking of getting some aftermarket wheels 19x9.5 et20-22 but not sure what the best offset is for winter setup on the g8X xdrives

Summit racing’s website says they can source OEM sizes by October for Alpin 5’s. Not sure how much truth there is to that. Back in 2022 I bought them from paddleshifterz as did many of the other forum members. They have them readily in stock since they are in Germany and it’s the law to run winter tires. Received them shipped within 2 weeks. The only issue is that with the conversion rate and shipping cost I paid $1000 less back then compared to todays pricing. $3500USD is too steep for a set of winter tires only IMO. Maybe just get the rears from Germany as the fronts are easier to get here. Just in case anyone is considering this I just wanted to let people know paddleshifterz is a reputable website as many forum members purchased their winters from them.

Interesting that oem sizes are returning in October, yeah that's incredibly expensive for just a set of tires. I'll take your suggestion and look at sourcing 2 19 oems and getting a square set
