Recently traded in an F86 for a G80 identical key fobs which actually surprised me that nothing asthetically changed.. anyway can the brand new second fob I had for the F86 be reprogrammed by a dealer to be used on the G80? Maybe a stupid question but before I bring the dealer my second one I figured I’d ask since they didn’t give me a second on the G80…

Was it preowned? Get the dealer to pay for a 2nd key.

Yes that’s the plan was just curious though if it was a possibility to do so..

The paranoid side of me would worry that there is another key to your car floating around. Pretty sure the dealer can disable or unpair a key from your car. I’d insist they do that as well as providing you a second key. If you signed a sheet that says “nothing owed” when you bought the car they may use that to keep from giving you a second key.

I don’t know for sure, but I don’t know why it wouldn’t be possible. All they’re going to do is flash it with the correct info, so I think it’d work.

No. Every key is VIN specific.
