Let's hope the rumors about the port workers not striking hold true. Otherwise, it's gonna take a very large raft and access to the vessel to get the M's off!

Seriously though, the way things have gone, would not surprise me at all. That would only add another month or 2, no big deal.

Don't know if this mean are safe necessarily but there is no mention of Hueneme.

"While some issues that slowed supply chains beginning last year have eased, new ones keep popping up, with the looming cloud of a dockworker strike at U.S. west coast ports including Los Angeles and Long Beach on the horizon."

German port workers went on a strike last week so I think we barely made it in time onto this one..

Certainly hope we stay clear. Cars aside, a strike would be so detrimental in countless ways. Last thing the supply chain needs!

Orion Leader position June 30, just 30 minutes ago.

Ship travels roughly 400 nautical miles (460 miles) a day, right on track for a July 4 Panama Canal crossing!

Thank you zb! Ship in Mona Passage! I have 8 free tries left, so I will try to post position every 3 days or so, that will get me to July 24/25 arrival in Port Huemene. Weather predictions looks good on the course line, tropical storm exited Caribbean ahead of the ship.

Hi all,

On the average, how many days does processing at the port take, assuming there's no stop sale or a strike.

Yes. They have a reservation of sorts and they got there early. I expect them to start moving soon though since they still have hundreds of miles to get to the canal.

xxm thanks for the update. That looks strange. Speaking of my own experience transiting the Panama Canal numerous times, all ships have a designated slot to transit and if there is a need to wait for that, ships go at anchor just north of the entrance to the canal, where there is a huge anchorage. It could be this anchorage is full and the captain decided to go slow, but to go this slow is strange because you have limited steerage with that speed. My tracker says eta is July 5, 0600 local time at Cristobal. Looks like this is possible with the current position of the ship, which is roughly 335 nautical miles from Cristobal.

That is what I was thinking as well. The map is misleading as it looks like it can just get there upon receiving the go ahead from the canal but its actually really far out, almost in between Dominican Republic and Panama closer to DR. Attached are some screen shots.

From it current position, its 21 hours away from Cristobal, correct me if I'm wrong ArnoPCB not really literate about maritime tracking.

On this end it shows that it was supposed to be at the Canal at 11 AM this morning, but Arno got ETA as 5th.

And as the bonus, I checked, when the cars would've been here if it didn't stop in South America first and it seems like they could've been here on 11th so the whole ordeal adds exactly 2 weeks to the timeline. Can't complain though at least we are on a ship and we are moving.

Happy 4th everyone.

Thanks zb I stand corrected. You are right, I meant to type 435 nautical miles and with an average speed of 16 knots that is roughly 27 hours. So, the eta of July 5 0600 is not possible anymore. Not sure what is going on, but it could be since the Orion was re directed (as per NYK website) that there was a screw up in reserving a Panama Canal transit for her. That could end up waiting for up to 4 days at the moment. More waiting, but like you said our cars are on board and heading in the right direction, although slowly.
