Sooo, I peaked at a couple of BMW sites and they both list M3 Competition Touring as "Petrol-Diesel".
Huh? I thought they would list any combustion engine models with that labke, but there are plenty with Petrol only, like Z4. Soo, will there be a diesel version that I missed in all the hype? EDIT: Cancel the alarm. The way BMW sites are setup, they lure you to click on M3 Touring, but it takes you to a 3 series Touring site, where obviously you have 340i and 340d and M3 options. Mystery solved. That said, Audi has a diesel S4, so it wouldn't be a first, I guess. |

How'd that F series GT thing sell? I think I've seen one in Toronto a city of 6 million in all the years. Those obscure models don't sell in a world where they can't keep enough X1/3 in stock. Is there a niche market? Yes. But M3/4 sales aren't huge to start with, what percentage of those would be a Touring? 10% maybe? Add in the homologation issue and this was never going to happen. We all knew that. Go buy the Audi. If you want to do the talking do it with your wallet.

If this is true, perhaps someone can confirm it, then BMW really missed an opportunity here, and shame on them.

But yes the handling is better on the M, and probably the ride comfort too. Put it this way, if you had to tow a boat or a race car, would you prefer a Chevy Suburban or an X5M? Given that you have to live with it outside of towing, my choice would be clear and simple.

I'm currently in a small village in south France, and I regularly see two 3er GT and no 3er sedan parked on the streets. Quote:

Still cant get over the goofy wheel setup of bigger sidewall upfront.
And then the crotch bump on the seats... And the kidneys were discussed enough. not a pretty car, but I wish it success as a WAGON so US can get more wagons in general. Shame about the looks though. They could have had a 3 series face on the wagon to be more low key, which is the whole bloody point of a fast wagon in Europe, but I digress. |

I don't know what it is, but the front end sort of works on this car for me.
Real shame we aren't getting it stateside. I know BMW has good financial reasons not do, but damn it would be cool to see these around.

Another high performance wagon that we can't have in the US. Not really much to say about that.
That commercial on the other hand… how did he have that many Legos? Why are these people just hanging out at a shipping port? Are we supposed to think that (possibly mentally ill) person was counting down the days until BMW released an M3 touring? Was the wall with all the tally marks in his home?? I have so many questions. |
