Pathetic BMW
You couldn't even make laser headlights standard for a hugely overpriced special?
First the CSL name on a big heavy car with auto
Now the ugly LED lights….lol

It is afterall a limited run car ment to please the BMW fans and show what BMW is capable of. Some sort of icon for BMW.
Well it's definitely a limited edition halo car. I'm guessing they offer more accommodating seats because the one-piece buckets probably fit only 50% of potential customers comfortably. And the special livery delete because, likewise, it's not for everyone.

I'm curious why you think it would cost more to operate vs a GT3?

The CSL tier is precisely developed and engineered for the track. It perhaps does not contain as many hardware upgrades as the GTS did, but the marketing and rollout for the model has been unwaveringly clear about BMW's aspirations and intent here. Will some customers use them only for coffee runs? Sure, and some Ferrari and GT3 customers do likewise. But it's still a colossal waste.
I certainly don't see it as a colossal waste if the owner chooses to enjoy their CSL or GT3 with spiriting street driving on curvy backroads vs taking it to the track. Many of the upgrades that make these cars more track capable also result in greater driver feedback/enjoyment on regular roads. Modern cars have become so compliant that even a sharpened up, track oriented model is quite comfortable by historical standards.

There does come a point where the compromises are such that a car is no longer enjoyable on the road. The Senna comes to mind. Some may argue the same with the M4 GTS.

I've driven the GT3 on track. It's a beautiful and brutal experience. And it's a stark lesson that cars in this league are complete overkill for just DD duties. Can they handle street driving with utmost performance and enjoyment and even tolerable comfort? Yes, but they were bread for the track. And a vanilla GTS (or standard G8x) would be a far better choice for just spirited driving on public roads. But hey, it's your money.

CT's looks nicer imo

The red stripes aren't my favorite with the Black but I could see how some people would like it.

To be fair, the fixed bucket seats are an option on the GT3, it comes standard with 4-way sport seats with the 18-way and fixed buckets as cost options.

Seems like this car is competing with a civic type R.

A very thoughtful take. This is what keeps me from going after cars above my current M. I see them, I want them, but I can't use them.

I would not. Would be hard to choose this over a GT4 as a current GT4 owner and ended up ordering another GT4 over getting one of these.

A real black beauty in the link. Very likely it is sub 6:45 on the ring.

When the red stripes are removed it looks pretty good. The red stripes are pretty stupid.

Mine is coming in white with stripe delete, should be good. I also thought the new grill was terrible but it really just doesn't photograph well.

Got mine in white too but keeping the stripes. No too bad with white.
We will see… Only saw rendering so far. Hard to tell…

I agree that the stripes look best on white.
