If they would not let her dock if early, I would think the captain would slow down. At about $1,000,000 usd a fillip (my googled guess), I would slow down.

They have designated parking lots for cargo ships to anchor in while waiting for port access -- I've seen many such ships near Bremerhaven -- but those are close to the mainland. For a ship to turn around and slow down to a crawl in the middle of the Atlantic? Either it's bad data, or someone fell overboard.
