I just drove the i4 M50 at the bmw electrified event and actually don’t mind the screen b/c it had HUD as well. Only issue I had was the steering wheel blocks most of the screen.

A manual wagon would be awesome though here in the US.

Unfair characterization of the ZF8. It's amazing in cars like the M5 CS, Jaguar Project 8, and probably Alfa GTAm (never driven one, but I'm guessing) etc. Its been improved to be more aggressive with OTA updates in the new M4 and probably will be incredible in the CSL.

The M-DCT is an overrated transmission and this car is probably very well suited to the ZF8.

LOL. What a massive surprise. It's the same.

Got so bored of waiting for it I cancelled my deposit.... but it's a fantastic all round package.

Agree on the gearbox. It suits the car perfectly. The manual looks and seems like an afterthought in a 500BHP+, nigh on 2 tonne car. It's not an Evora...

I'm just saying, not an opinion shared by everyone which is why M uses it. I've had two DCT cars and 2 ZF8 cars and would take the ZF8 over the DCT every day.

What company integrates it better? All the Tesla screens are big chunky iPad looking things stuck in various places and it seems like most manufacturers are following their lead.

Mercedes do it quite well in the GT63 E performance and E63s.

I have it in an iX and it works nicely. But I don't need to look at RPMs there.

Also it blends your focus across both screens. When driving a performance car, I want my focus clearly defined and not spread across screensz

What's the learning curve like? do you find yourself speaking to the car more? Since they removed the shortcuts and put them in a swipe down menu, that seems it would be tricky to access while driving?

Monochrome black badge with contrasting surround, similar to the iX M60 black badge with bronze surround?!

I thought they wouldn't be enacting that until the next gen M cars, perhaps with different color surrounds (including the 3 M colors) assigned to different M versions? The M2, which should be revealed later than the M3 Touring, has leaked with what looks like the classical tricolor stripe M badge though

PS: it's probably just an image compression issue, and yet you can still see the blue in the laser lights and the roundel and the red in the brake calipers.

the long eyelevel screen is still better than the screens that the C-class is getting.
