Same situation for me, got a prod number in Jan for week 5 build pushed to MY23 in April. My CA said he would take my order when MY23 allocations became available. I pushed back and said I want them to take the order now so that as soon as the allocation is available, quickly confirm with me, and then send the order asap. I have no faith that BMW is going to prioritize orders that rolled over from MY22, so I want the order in asap. My order is now in their bank and he sent me the build sheet showing status 047.

If it isn't looking like I will receive the car in late fall (which would mean I've waited a year total), I'll highly consider canceling it. I really don't want to deal with more pre-prod delays and build week changes. I know there are port and QA delays but at least at that point I'll know the car is built and on its way.

I haven't brought it up yet. I have been waiting until I officially get bumped to '23. Keep us informed.

BTW I would hope that they would schedule those of us who have had a production number for months before passing out new allocations, but I don't have a lot of faith that will happen.

I guess we will all know more pretty soon.
I agree. I originally placed an order early Nov 21, I'm pushing hard to have my "replacement" MY23 order priority over subsequent newer orders. No confirmation on this yet.

Judging from only my experience, I'm not sure they roll over orders to the next MY. In my case, I had a June 26/22 production date for a MY23, which BMW arbitrarily canceled.

At the very least they will want a "new" order to get the price increase. Also, while I couldn't see any material differences for options, manufacturers often reorganize their packages and sometimes carve out options they can grab a little more money for. (Eg ventilated seats, originally included in a package)

I think when we move from order bank to final configuration there may yet be some surprises. (Eg additional costs)

My two cents….

I share your concern about prioritizing, no faith at all. I fear "new" MY23 orders could easily slip in ahead of "replacement" MY23 orders. I'm pushing to get a commitment my order will go in with the first allocations my dealer gets. But, who knows🤷

I actually wouldn't mind a 550i. If the ME doesn't work it's the next thing that might be interesting.

SOP for MY23 is July. They are not building any 23s in June.

I'm guessing your CA was confused or miscommunicated something.

at first i contemplated this. I'm currently in the 5 series loaner and it's so damn comfortable.

M550 it's got a good rumble sound to it - i'm unsure if would get it over M3

BMW wanting a new order/production number for people that flipped from MY22 to MY23 to get the price increase is actually a good point that I had not thought about. I was unsure that my CA knew what the process was when he said I would need to wait for a MY23 allocation when mine was flipped from a 22 to a 23 (I assumed BMW would do it automatically and keep the same prod number).

I think you're right, and more and more I learn how little the SA's actually know. In fairness to them, it seems BMW does not do it very good job of keeping them informed and there seems to be a lack of product knowledge training as well.

I'm currently in a M550, really nice car, tons of torque and horsepower. I just decided I wanted a true M-car, and something smaller which is why I ordered the G 80

On paper, the M550 is a bruiser. Thunderous V8. Lots of luxury and performance features. Screaming acceleration figures and very respectable grip and braking numbers.

But compared to the M3, it's definitely heavier, softer, and more tuned for luxury. It also has a rear wheel steering system that results in some weird handling at the limits. As C/D puts it:

Quote:
If you're thinking sports sedan, the M550i's handling might be a turn-off, but if you want to relax in leather-lined comfort while occasionally dusting off a Porsche driver at a stoplight drag race, you'll find the M550i pretty tasty.

I'm in a fully optioned M550, all those descriptions are bang on. As great as a car as it is, I can't wait to get into a smaller more nimble car. I've been waiting 7 months for my G80, hopefully I see it in the couple of years, ha!

What about the people who are in Europe who have seen their orders flip to MY23 without intervention?

Are we now saying BMW NA orders will not flip to MY23 without some kind of intervention from our CA?

I'm just not sure. In my circumstance my order wasn't flipped. Rather it was canceled and I now have placed a new order now in the order bank.
