Now that order guides are out and banks are open, starting a thread for discussion about allocations to come hopefully in the coming week(s).

Please post updates, waitlist progression, etc.

Sorry, but what is meant by "banks are open"? Can a dealership order a vehicle without waiting for an allocation?

Supposedly my dealership told me I'm first in line on the wait list for a MY2023 M3 Comp xDrive, but I assume nothing will happen unless they receive allocations from BMW.

There was another thread where I read that order banks were open with no allocations yet. Maybe a CA can chime in on that.

Order banks have been open - they don't close when a model year is coming to an end. Those on the waitlist who have been waiting will be for the next model year

When a dealer accepts a deposit and asks for your build, they enter that information into what they call the "order bank," which is accessible by BMWNA and may help them make allocation and production decisions. When an allocation(s) are released to a dealer, those order(s) are transferred from the bank to the allocated pool, and it flips to status 111. I am not certain how orders placed for MY22 get "converted" to MY23 allocations; I'm guessing the system tries to copy existing options and packages where possible, but it's still up to the CA and customer to verify the result is what they want. (This, I'm guessing, is how laser lights got dropped for many orders between MY21 and MY22 when they were removed from the Executive Package.)

calbears can probably confirm or correct me on the above. I believe he stated at one point that order bank orders are automatically transferred when allocations come up, though I'm unclear how that reconciles with a dealer's customer queue when they're managing multiple deposits and lists. i.e. Does the system just pick the first/oldest order from the bank and then the dealer can override?

The M3/M4 are a bit of a headache as allocations are based on base/comp/xdrive even though you can switch them once they are in 111. The system will pull the oldest first based on the allocation type. For example, if we're allocated a base M3, the system looks for a match in the bank. Nothing in the bank means it's just an allocation for the M3 base. It's then up to the dealer to assign an order (comp, xdrive) to that allocation and switch it.

Do you have any details on how the existing MY22 allocations get moved to MY23? I ordered in October 2021, and got an allocation in January for originally week 9 thats now being held for MY23. Based on the order I've seen orders fulfilled during these interesting times, I'm worried it might get moved to MY23, but not in queue until my CA verifies things which means again there'll be a flood of orders getting fulfilled again before me.

The only information I have is that if your order is currently in 105, you're going to be pushed to a MY23. That means same production number, you're going to have to wait until July to check and modify your order.

If you're entered in the order bank by putting down a deposit, do you get any email confirmation or something like that? All I got was a paper receipt for the deposit but no confirmation that my build has been entered into the system

You can ask for a VIR (vehicle inquiry report) which confirms that your order's been placed in the order bank. Without an allocation it'll likely show status 047 - Spec. released-no quota. I'd ask for it regardless just to double check that your order in the system is exactly how you specced it (CAs aren't immune to mistakes ).

Yes - you can put a 23 order into the order bank. We currently have 2 MY23 allocations those are the two 50th Jahre's.

After that we have the two people who got their order pushed from 22 to a 23. Then the wait list continues right where it left off.

That's dealer specific. But if you get the print out of the order, you'll see Status 047 and no production number.

Yep, that's exactly what I received, and I agree 100% it provides good peace of mind about the accuracy of the order. Review it carefully.

I would also ask for the agreed-upon bill of sale/contract clearly showing the sale price and any/all fees they expect to tack on, so that there's no surprises later.

I feel for the M3 people. Every list in New England I have looked into the M3 list is many many times longer. I was #1 for a 23' M4C and in the last week I got one of the June allocations. This will roll into a 23' around the July re-tool.

I was 111 for a day and now am placed into the production que. Dev console shows nothing useful yet. I imagine my status will rubber ball for a few months.

I would post the options but they will be changing soon.

Reached out to my CA this morning, and they said I'm still first in line at their dealership for a '23 M3 Comp. Hopefully will get an allocation soon.

I'm first at my dealer for a G80. I have the option for the SE, in Lime Rock gray, coming in Sept. or a custom ordered MT in BG. If the allocation comes in a couple weeks, I will then decide accordingly....

When did you place your non-refundable deposit with them?

Back in March when I was still shopping around for my M3, Sudbury wanted $5k ADM, so I ended up placing my deposit somewhere else.

And until I actually receive my MY2023 allocation, my lips will be sealed on who I ended up going with....

Fair! I placed it recently, so I am well behind and not in a rush anyway. Was told it could take a year to get a car but because they have the largest volume in the region (debatable) they get "a lot" of allocations for G80 per month and I'm hoping a few dropouts push me up. I didn't shop because they are giving me MSRP, but that's only because I am a repeat customer. My SA said they are charging ADM for first time customers. I suspect when my allocation finally comes, the car market could be in a much different place and I may have better choices, who knows where this economy is headed. For what its worth he told me they have no wait list for G82x…
