I believe week 26 is the last week for model year 22 production…. This is complete bs what they're doing to all of us. They seem to be pumping out g83s like crazy to sit as inventory cars at dealers. If we get pushed to the switch from 22-2023 who even knows if dealers will honor our allocations. On top of that packages and pricing can change again. I wonder if everyone starts bombarding BMWNA with phone calls if anything will change ?

What, exactly, are they "doing" to you? BMW is dealing with a confluence of challenges that nearly every manufacturer, across all industries, are facing. Sure, their communication could be better, but they're still building cars.

G80's are manufactured in a different plant from G82's/G83's. And demand for G80's appears to be tighter. They can't easily substitute one for the other.

If the factory reschedules a build from MY22 to MY23, it's not really for your dealer to "honor" anything. You'll have a chance to review the changes to options/packages/price and confirm or cancel. This is how it works every year. (If your dealer decides to unilaterally cancel your order and give it to someone else... well then you've got a pretty shitty dealer, though they could decide to do that at any time.)

It won't.

People dont understand the fact these order tracking resources are not provided by most other OEMs. Those customers would wait patiently until the call from their CA saying vehicle is ready for delivery, months after they placed the order.

If i was a BMW executive, i would temporarily pause order tracking resources (online tracker and Genius) from customers at least until the component shortage settles down. They have bigger fires to deal with on a day to day basis.

Agreed. Porsche doesn’t even offer this level of tracking. My buddy has a GT3 he ordered and they don’t even give him step by step build progress. Just that it’ll be ready sometime in Q3.

The very least they could do is to offer a "Your GT3 is at the bottom of the Atlantic" status indicator.

(Too soon?)

hold on so you're saying if we get pushed to MY23 we can lose the car all together?! Wouldn't the allocation stay the same and the MY just change?

No, I'm saying that if the build gets pushed to MY23, then the factory gives the customer the opportunity to review and make changes, based on updated options and packages and pricing.

Haha yeah. Supposedly there were quite a few GT3s on there.

Side note, if we do get pushed back to 23. I don’t mind as long as it doesn’t have that screen. Then I can go back to my individual color

There's a good chance the MY2023 M3/M4 WILL have the new curved screen and iDrive 8....

Anybody in here have a "Scheduled for Production" status? Mine has been "Order Received" for a few weeks now.

By all accounts (multiple product specialists and Genius folks who've answered direct queries on this) it's actually not all that likely that the iDrive 8 mini-refresh/semi-LCI will be brought in this summer. We're all awaiting an official announcement, of course; but I've yet to encounter a company source that confidently anticipates that the dash will be automatically modified as early as July.

Porsche literally has a service that lets people track their 911 builds with cameras from the factory lol.

If you are referring the timelapse of gold bronze 992 GT3, it was a one off thing which Porsche did for a racer. Its not an option for regular customers.

No, not what I"m talking about.

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en_US/t...eam-20929.html

Looks like the service is expanded to 718 and Taycan now.

Even though there was a press release about it, i dont think it was rolled out to the public. Based on the recent reports in Rennlist, people are still relying on their CA for updates.

People on Rennlist have been using it to track their cars and post pictures of their cars being built because it is available to the public. How well it works seems to be a different story.

Why should I have to pay extra for something out of my control? If they pushed by build past a production run cycle out of my control (I am not making changes), then they (BMW) should honor my original cost of the vehicle. It would be insane to charge customers more money for something not in their control. But I guess we live in a pretty insane world these days so it would not come as a shock

Well that's why you would have the opportunity to review and cancel/get a refund if applicable. But it's a fair argument and worth considering, though I'm skeptical most CA's would honor it.
