Black plastic on top of back fender

Hi,

I noticed that in EU M3 has this plastic fender extender over the back wheels. Is there anything that can be done about it? Can it be removed without leaving anything uncovered that's not painted?

I'm pretty sure it's painted underneath.

Here is the part:

Looks like they just screw on using the normal fittings for the wheel arch liner. I'd be willing to bet that it's fully painted underneath as it'd be unlikely that they would mask off that area. It's probably painted like all other cars that don't require this trim and then bolted on later.

Likely that paint will be scratched and you'll have to polish it up. But it looks like it should be easy to unbolt and re-install if you find something poor underneath.

Good luck!

I believe the OEM Europe cars with the fender liners have protective clear plastic underneath to protect from possible swirls/scratches.
