I did the same thing, few days ago. I figured brake boosting did pretty much the same thing. Man, was I wrong. Launch control is unbelievable.

- The car needs to be driven a certain amount of time, temps in range etc. - You should not have to put it in second before engaging launch control, it does that automatically. This could be why it's not working all the time for you.

I was trying to launch for the first time today and got it to go two times out of maybe six attempts. The four times it didn't go my tires just spun when I had the brake in.
Is there any way to check if I'm in D or S for the shifting settings? |

Bumping this. Just tried launch control for the first time tonight on an empty rural road. I almost passed out. Got the total tunnel vision blood rushing out of my head feeling. Is that normal or am I just too sensitive? Honestly it scared the shit out of me. Insane car.

It’s been discussed a lot. And I am just repeating what I read and XHP claims. The claim is that ZF8 limited to 50 super hard luanches. After that supposedly it won’t shift as hard even though LC is active. I have no proof of any of this but if you search the topic it’s discussed a lot.

I’d bet I’m north of 100 by now. I have 79 saved in dragy, many others not recorded or deleted. Still hauling ass. Wheelspin is the bigger problem

Second question. Does launch control work 100% of the time you try it? Mine doesn’t. It’s been explained to me if certain temperature parameters aren’t met it won’t launch. Of course no one can tell me what those parameters are. |

I have a BMW X3 M Competition 2020 (F97). It was fully stocked, with no Tuning Platform or downpipes. I tried the launch control and it doesn't go up more than 2000 RPM (the flag is activated and coming out), it seems that not enough air enters for the turbos to boost.
Yesterday I rescheduled the ECU with BootMod3 (BM3) and also flashed the box with xHP. We tested the launch control again with the new reprogramming, but it is still the same, the LC is activated but does not exceed 2,000 rpm. I also tried to upload the RPM manually from the cruise control button (as some tutorials indicate), but it doesn't go up either, it stays the same. I live in a city at 2750 m above sea level, and the mechanic tells me that it could be due to the lack of air at altitude, and that possibly to solve it, you need to change the torque converter of the transmission to a larger one so that the system works properly and so you can load the turbo boost, since in my city being at a height level of 2,600 meters, there is not enough air. The funny thing is that after the first 15mph, it runs very well from 15mph onwards, in the Dragy set a time of 8.2 seconds from 62mph to 125mph, indicating that the running performance is very good. Has anyone had a similar experience? What do I recommend adjusting or reviewing so that the launch control works properly at this altitude? |
