I don't care about water cooling this, and pistons that.

Q: Will it come with 3 pedals?

Got to agree. Let the track focused models have that kind of special cooking where its not much of a nuisance

Hopefully the GTS/CSL will have it and get to 600hp

That is still very speculative. Furthermore, although we know they have tested an S58 in combination with a manual transmission, inside info does not currently confirm a manual is still coming in a production M3/M4. Hopefully more concrete information is available later this year.

I wounder if we can convert twin into single turbo by borrowing the tables from the b58. A precision 6266 down the road would be ideal. The blow-by-gas are recycle back into the sump. What happens when we up the power?

I really hope so, otherwise I am jumping after 25 years to Porsche.

Only one of the rails not under tension is plastic. All the tension guides are aluminum with plastic surfaces.

I thought someone had posted that it's basically identically to the S55. 😬

Yes, that issue has been resolved based the crankshaft being one solid piece vice the interference fit crankshaft to the hub on the S55.

Interesting one of the output shafts passes through a hole in the oil pan.

Does anyone know if a tech manual exists for the B58TU?

Yes, since B58 there has been a completely different design.

Seems they also moved the powerband up in the RPM range a bit vs. the S55; about ~500-700 RPM. I wonder how that'll make it "feel" below 2500 RPM vs. the outgoing M3/M4.
Well, most 2017 and 2018 M3s and M4s (and maybe 2016s? I don't remember) have basically zero power below 2,500RPM anyways - the software was changed in our DMEs to artificially limit boost to pretty much zero until around 2,250 or so and I can tell you my manual 2018 M3 really doesn't start to move at all until after 2,500rpm in any gear. It was a shame they designed the S55 to hit peak torque so low and then changed their mind and limited the ultra low end because we were left with sacrifices in potential top end power. This new engine seems to strike a better balance in my opinion - if you don't want a ton of torque sub-2k RPM then you may as well design the engine, turbo system, etc. to flow better at the other end of the spectrum.

Every 4WD BMW does this.

Yeah, that’s the problem. Because of that, my chain snapped, severed one of the engine block pins and for that reason I needed to buy a new engine. Don’t ask the price...
