SiriusXM with 1-Year All-Access Subscription Now Standard On All 2021 BMW

BIMMERPOST NEWS
SiriusXM with 1-Year All-Access Subscription standard on all 2021 BMW automobiles
25
COMMENTS

SiriusXM is now standard on all BMW models starting with model year 2021.

New SiriusXM with 360L is standard on most 2021 BMW models.

Listen to SiriusXM anywhere with your BMW All-Access subscription.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – Oct. 14, 2020…
Today, BMW is proud to announce that SiriusXM with a 1-year All-Access subscription is now standard on all 2021 BMW automobiles sold in the U.S. The standard availability of SiriusXM is part of a new agreement between SiriusXM and the BMW Group that extends the relationship between the companies through the 2026 calendar year.

Additionally, many new 2021 BMW models also feature SiriusXM with 360L, SiriusXM’s most advanced audio entertainment platform that combines satellite and streaming content delivery into a single in-vehicle entertainment experience. Available on the 2 Series Gran Coupe, 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 8 Series, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7 and Z4 Roadsters, SiriusXM with 360L expands audio entertainment options for the BMW owner by offering new features and listening options in and out of their vehicle. The 1-year SiriusXM All-Access subscription on 2021 BMW also allows for listening on the SiriusXM app on mobile devices and on connected home devices.

First available on BMW models in 2002, SiriusXM has been an important and well-received part of the integrated entertainment services offered to BMW customers. With standard SiriusXM across the lineup, drivers and their passengers gain access to an extensive selection of ad-free music, plus sports, wide-ranging entertainment and news, giving them countless options.

“BMW delivers their customers a premium experience every time out on the road. We’re very proud that SiriusXM has been a popular feature of that in-vehicle experience dating back to the earliest days of satellite radio in 2002,” said Rodney Pickett, SVP, Automotive Partnerships, for SiriusXM. “Today we are truly excited that our relationship continues to grow, as we announce that SiriusXM will be standard on all BMW Group vehicles, ensuring all of their customers can enjoy our premium programming content for many years to come.”

“In-vehicle technology and entertainment have become as important to BMW drivers as the performance and handling of their new automobiles.” said Monika D. Reimel, Head of BMW Aftersales Business Development. “BMW was one of the first manufacturers to offer SiriusXM in our automobiles (2002) and today we are excited to not only include SiriusXM as a standard feature in all of our 2021 models but also combine it with one of the longest initial subscription periods (1-year) in the industry. This new agreement with SiriusXM offers immediate benefits to our enthusiastic customers.”

Offering entertainment options is as critical to us as offering a choice of how you wish to interact with your vehicle to make driving your BMW an exciting experience every single day. This premium experience is what our agreement with SiriusXM brings to the enthusiastic BMW owners.”

Future Software Services and Updates

BMW vehicles that feature SiriusXM with 360L will be equipped to receive software updates that will allow BMW owners and lessees to receive the latest features from SiriusXM. One expected future software update will enable 360L’s newest feature, Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora. With Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora, drivers can create their own ad-free music stations based on the artist they are listening to, then give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down within the SiriusXM service, or even skip songs, to create their own personal channel that plays more of what they want.

Haven't used XM in years ever since I got spotify. One of the most annoying things was them repeatedly calling me after it expired with every new car I had. My wife had to tell them that my car was totaled just to get them to stop calling.

I think the difference between the '20 and '21 models is that now it's All Access instead of just the normal Sirius subscription. Apparently gives you more channels

Has the bit rate recently increased, as Sirius sounds significantly better on my F85 B&O stereo? I recently started driving the X5M after putting the miles on my M4 prior to lease turn in, which the HK system didn't sound as good as the B&O, but in the past the sound wasn't that "full" on the B&O and sounded compressed.

Just more unuseful bundled things for the car. I haven't even tried to use my SiriusXM trial.

It was All Access in MY2020 as well.

I understand this to mean the only difference between now and previous model years is SiriusXM is included as standard on all cars. It used to be included as either a standalone option or inside a package to "enable the radio" that included a free year.

I tell them I sold all my cars and walk to work now...because I'm going green. They sound SO puzzled 🤣

They send me SO MUCH junk mail, it's absurd. I swear I get like 3 Sirius envelopes in the mail per week asking me to subscribe

If i drove my car more frequently I'd purchase the subscription as my 1 year trial just ended. 1 year into my lease and only 4100 on the odometer lol

I think I still have time shift on my 2021 5. Also the 2021 have the newest SiriusXM, which get quite a few more stations, as it streams too. Very cool. Also think the sound is a lot better too.

No it's still there, it's just inherently activated now. It's just playback.
You can also set WAY more smart favorites now.
I played with it alot to make sure I didn't lose my fav features.

Lifetime Subscription Class Action Lawsuit

What is this lawsuit about?
The Plaintiffs claim that Sirius XM misrepresented the Lifetime Subscriptions that it marketed and sold by leading customers to believe that such subscriptions were for the lifetime of the customer. And, the Plaintiffs claim, Sirius XM’s refusal to honor the Lifetime Subscriptions breached Sirius XM’s agreement with its customers. Sirius XM asserts that its Lifetime Subscriptions were limited to the life of the satellite radio originally used for the subscription (as opposed to the life of the subscriber) and that its Lifetime Subscriptions were subject to a limited number of radio transfers between satellite radios, and subject to a $75 transfer fee for each such transfer. Sirius XM therefore denies any wrongdoing and denies all other claims made in the Action. No court or other entity has made any judgment or other determination of any wrongdoing or that the Sirius XM violated the law. By entering into the Settlement, Sirius XM is not admitting that it did anything wrong.

What does the Settlement provide?

The Settlement will provide Class Members with the following benefits:

Unlimited transfers of Active Lifetime Subscriptions from one satellite radio to another satellite radio.
A transfer fee of $35 per transfer.
Reactivation of Inactive Lifetime Subscriptions on a satellite radio that is not currently receiving Sirius XM’s satellite radio service or a $100 cash payment for Class Members who hold Inactive Lifetime Subscriptions and who do not elect to reactivate their Lifetime Subscriptions. In the event Class Members with Inactive Lifetime Subscriptions choose to reactivate their account, they would thereafter be entitled to transfer their reactivated Lifetime Subscriptions to another radio capable of receiving Sirius XM’s satellite radio service for an unlimited number of times provided that they pay a transfer fee to Sirius XM of $35 per transfer. A Person who chooses to reactivate an Inactive Lifetime Subscription may elect to cancel another Sirius XM paid subscription on his or her account and receive a pro rata refund of any amounts paid for future service unless such paid subscription purchase included bundled equipment.
In addition to the benefits described above, and after the Settlement becomes final, Sirius XM will also make available Internet streaming access to Inactive Lifetime Subscribers who choose to reactivate their subscriptions for no additional fee to Sirius XM. Internet streaming access is already available to Active Lifetime Subscribers.
The unlimited transfers described above must be done through the Sirius XM website at the following URL address: care.siriusxm.com. In the event this URL address is changed or amended, Sirius XM will first publish the new address in its Customer Agreement or provide the new address on the landing page of the Sirius XM website.
Sirius XM has also agreed to pay (i) Settlement Administration Expenses, (ii) Court-approved Service Payments to the Named Plaintiffs, and (iii) Court-approved attorneys’ fee and expenses, all set forth in and limited by the maximum amounts set forth in the Settlement Agreement (where applicable). These amounts will be paid by Sirius XM and will not reduce any benefits to be paid to Class Members.
