BMW: Makes a limited production. CS/CSL lightweight that you can have more fun at the track

Everyone: This CS/CSL is less refined and with all the sound deadening removed it's too noisy. Suspension too stiff for driving on public roads. Good thing it's limited production cause they won't sell much of these if it wasn't. Oh and I rather buy a Porsche GT3

....which is why we each should buy the car that fits our own personal needs and desires, not what fits the forum's or a pundit's needs and desires.

Get what YOU want, not what everyone else wants. Just try not to pay too much over MSRP.

This is silly talk. You can get a GT4 allocation for $15-$20k markup all day long. Even with ADM, a GT4 is cheaper than an M4 CSL at MSRP. Once you add $50k ADM to your CSL, you're talking about 991.2 GT3 pricing. Which is just nuts.

An M4 CSL at MSRP is about the same price as a similarly equipped GT4 with a small ADM.

GT4 compared to the M4 CSL. Please. Not even in the same ballpark. Maybe compared to a 911 S.

Maybe my M2 CS compared to the GT4, although they don't think it's a fair comparison as they are always giving me the point by at VIR in the instructor and advanced groups.

GT4 is seriously one of the most over rated cars there is. Now, GT4 RS, yeah I'll take one of those.

Watched the video shortly after it was released, and you can tell on the Autobahn that the suspension is super stiff... but would you have it any other way with this car? It's a hardcore street legal track car with a few (ok, a bunch) creature comforts thrown in.

Dream car, especially for a track day.

Honestly at 250+ kmh I wouldn't want the thing to be wobbling around, you need confidence at these speeds.

No and he didn't have it in comfort mode, he had it in track mode.

Yea, it was definitely track mode. I just meant creature comforts as in BMW interior stuff to keep you nice and coddled when you're not tearing up the Nürburgring.

The things is if you really want a track car a m3 comp and stripping it out and redoing kinematics with Spl and Bimmerworld gear would still be far cheaper. Plus you would probably end up with a better track car. A factory hard core track car is always in a bit of a weird spot.

True but how many of these cars are even going on track? Most of them are kept as collectibles due to the limited production.

Mine should too but I might trailer it since each outing to the track is almost 1000km. I'm getting another 6MT M3 that I won't care about.

The best track closest to me is 300km each way so 600km + a full day of HPDE with going for fuel and/or diner etc. is another 150-200km on top. So its a least 800km.

There is another super fun track but its even further at 471km so that is a full 1000km+ outing.

I plan on tracking the CSL 3-4 times in May-June and deciding from there on the usage I do with it. Kind of treat it like a GT3 that someone would enjoy fully for the first 5000-8000km and then wait for there next allocation
