Faster, lol. No one who buys this car (skilled drivers) care about 0-60. 100kph-200kph in 6.78 stock is not bad. It's faster everywhere that matters.

Edit: bmw_m_collector ran 6.78 in 100-200 test with a vmax of 311 (193mph). Let's also not dismiss the 7:15 ring time.

No idea why anyone doubted a BMW M car that’s 10-15 seconds faster around the Ring than the M5 CS with 80 less horsepower.

Not a true comparison to be fair, as there wasn't a factory time for the M5. The M4 GTS factory time was 9 seconds quicker than Sport Auto's.

Great video!

All of you who missed out on the CSL, not to worry...the M3 CS will be out soon and im sure it will be as close to this..oh yea and it will have yellow Halo's and titanium exhaust.

I had an allocation for the CSL for msrp and gave it away practically
because i dont see the hype, the appeal about a 3600lb $150k car.

M3 CS...practical, lighter than the offered M3 and M5, cheaper than CSL....checks off many boxes. Oh yea and M2 soon to be released from its humble abode. Patience

Yeah turned out it was "much ado about nothing". Another M classic and possibly one of the best RWD cars of all time.

My money is on the 4 RS, the car we dared Porsche to build.

This is the golden era of cars for sure and I'm glad I get to buy them all new.

Talking

I truly miss the etiquette of driving "The Autobahn". My days at Hahn Air Base were bliss!

The Aero becomes effective at those speeds. I love it!

Great video! Thank you for sharing!

The 4RS is probably going to be great like it's predecessors and that might be it's downfall. We know Porsche is going to bring it with all their GT cars, they always do but BMW is written off every car they release so it's actually more impressive that BMW continues to amaze with their CS cars and so far looks like the CSL is no exception.

Figures bmw limiting the production of this to only 1k units as it would be a tough sell to anyone who isn't a die-hard car collector.
Completely disagree. You don't have to be a hardcore car collector. There are thousands of us out there running a MUCH less forgiving setup that doubles as a fun street car and "deadly" track car.

Many people would argue this setup is closer to what people use to expect of a standard ///M car and that the standard ones are just too soft.

Bottom line, different strokes for different folks—-don't ever assume otherwise.

Cheers,

Yeah this car looks incredible based on that review, and exactly what I'd want from a true M car.

Road comfort has factored in the last two BMW wins. My bets are on the M3 CS not the M4 CSL being the best one to win.

Connection to the road factored in, not comfort. It was better damping to put the power down. EVO has never cared about ride comfort, but better damping and ride comfort do often go hand in hand.

This car doesn't seem to be unnecessarily stiff. But let's wait for more reviews. I don't suspect the CS will be a better car than this, and will live under the shadow of the M5 CS (a car with AWD, more power and similar weight).

Makes my M4 seem unworthy. Excellent video. Kudos to the owner to let him rip up to 190.

I agree, I doubt the M3 CS will be better than the M4CSL. It will be faster in a straight line because it will have the same power as the CSL but also has AWD. Some effort will be made to make it lighter too but not as much effort as they made with the CSL and there's no way it will come with Cup 2R tyres from the factory. I reckon the O-62 time for the CS will come in around 3.3s - as quick as an M5 Comp but a bit slower than the M5 CS but I doubt it will have all of the trick suspension bits that the M4 CSL has - pricing will be interesting Ł113k maybe vs Ł128k for the M4CSL?

Very curious how many of these end up on a track vs in a garage or street car. At my last track event I saw maybe 2 CS models out of 200 cars.

In the U.S. the procedure to get a driver license is: Drive around the block and parallel park. Lane discipline in America I don't think so.

My German friends said it is quite expensive too, especially for a young person. And you can't just take some junk POS on the autobahn, either. Good stuff.

I caught a cab when in Germany for the 2017 motor show - he was going at 150kph in a diesel Benz wagon with one hand on the wheel, so casual, as if he was looking for a parking space in a shopping centre

I see soccer moms do this all the time with one hand on a cell phone one on a starbucks and one eye glaring at their kids in the back as their minivan flies past me. Think of the driver training they must have undertaken...oh wait.
