Downpipes/midpipe configurations
I am not new to M cars, but I am new to the G8X platform and the S58 (and turbos in general), and I've got the typical noob questions that remain unanswered after many days reading these forums and watching YouTube videos.
I understand that exhaust sound is not an objectively quantifiable thing, and that some people prefer certain sounds, whilst other detest those sounds. That being said, for my purposes, I have the following preferences: Disqualifiers:
Qualifiers:
I would appreciate if we could turn this into the de facto thread for this exact query, since I know it is a common one. The issue is that other threads quickly go off the rails and vendors or people who are sponsored by/otherwise compensated by manufacturers pollute the results and make it impossible to parse. I'm just going to throw this up here and see what sticks. I and future purchasers of G8X exhaust modifications thank you for your feedback! |

I love my AA single midpipe. I went non-resonated since I don't plan on swapping downpipes, but going resonated with a downpipe swipe is definitely the right call.
I also think the single sounds the best of the options out there, I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. I also agree with your catted downpipe assessment. Last time I sat in a fully open downpipe config car, the smell was pretty noticeable. |

For a deeper midrange without rasp or drone, the single midpipe is your best bet (active is the only brand from the ones mentioned which makes a single mipipe). From what you described in your first post, that sounds like the best option for you. Btw, we offer 170 brands. No one pays us extra to push their products. My goal is to get you what you are looking for, whatever it is, I'm sure we offer it. Vendors who offer so many brands are the best sources to ask, in my opinion.

I have the active x pipe non resonated and installing active downpipes on my g 83 in the next two weeks. I have been very happy and this is the 3rd active system I have had between my m cars. I have a g83 and all my stuff comes from Mike at X-PH great service and prices.

[QUOTE=mike@x-ph.com;30790268]This leaves us with a few options only. Active Autowerke midpipe, Evolution Racewerks, Akrapovic exhaust, REMUS or AWE.
Another option I found when doing my research, SuperSprint makes a single resonated Mid Pipe, Italian. I just noticed that OP, already mentioned SuperSprint.

I vote for supersprint resonated jpipe. Quality is top notch, well worth the price tag and cant beat the sound either. I have it paired with stock downpipes and axleback, it’s got a nice deep tone absolutely no rasp.

Thoughts on choosing resonated vs. non? Do you plan on adding DP's or an axleback in the future? Or just really wanted to make sure you didn't have any drone?

My main goal was to minimize drone and rasp, which this thing does a great job of. I do plan on adding a catted downpipe in the future but will most likely keep the OEM axleback.

aremmell I was in the same situation as you when I first got my ‘24 G82. I ended up with the following config:
The setup in my opinion is flawless. Deep roar and nice burples with hardly to no rasp. Close the valves and put the car in efficient mode and your neighbors won’t know you modded a thing. Good luck with your search! |

OP Update:
I have ordered from Supersprint. I chatted with their salesperson on Whatsapp and they were extremely helpful and friendly. They even suggested which parts I should buy and they were not the ones I would have chosen (my set up was more expensive, which is rare for a company to do–steer you towards a cheaper option!). Parts ordered: 1. Catless downpipes: 527611 2. Catted j-pipe (single midpipe): 527732 3. Connecting pipes (connects to OEM muffler assembly): 527713 and 989244 ETA is a couple weeks, as they ship from Europe and are made-to-order. I'll report back when I have pics/video/sound. |

I have a G80 with Supersprint resonated J-pipe and AA catted downpipes. Aside from working through a fitment issue causing a CEL, it sounds amazing. One recommendation: look into a valve controller. I have the VSC-2 and it also brings a lot in terms of tone and rasp.
