It’s supposed to be 285s, the BIG change is the 275s up front. That is a massive front tire in a historic view and should improve front grip a lot.

And very few of us will keep that size

Will look great with 305's for people that chose AWD need to change the front to 285 to protect differential

Out of sight out of mind when the active grills close?

FWIW, I drive my X7 with what was once considered the big grille about 3 times more than the M3, and at a faster average speed (consistently on highways) where would I tend to collect more bugs with the M3. I still find myself needing to detail bugs off the M3 more often and in more spaces. It's not like my radiator is noticeably more contaminated (less there as well, but I have only had the X7 for 8 months). I suppose that it's more of a function of the aerodynamics, it's really only the mirrors that constantly get splattered in the X7.

Agreed that I still have to look at it, though... Luckily the M8 coupes are being discontinued due to slow sales resulting into some substantial discounts. I really didn't want to go that big, and was thinking about going to a 992 instead, but a lease deal on an M8 coupe or convertible wouldn't be too far off from what we saw with the M3CS.

Audi went through this 10 years ago with the same responses. A year from now everyone will be talking about how much they like the car.

It seems like it took Audi a few generations of design to get it right. Their initial attempts like whatever generation of the A6 that was first to get the big Audi grills looked awkward then and still does today. Their newer designs look very good to my eyes.

But honestly, I think the front end will look great. Once the camo comes off and we see it with paint, I'm sure most people will be singing a different tune.
We already know what they look like

Such a shame actually

Ironically I just came across both of these MT issues while tidying up the attic this weekend for moving (can believe I still have these!)

August 2007 issue: E92 M3 "Uncovered"

August 2014 issue: F8x "The Legend Returns"

I can only imagine the front cover and article for the G8x.

August 2021 issue: G8x " That's All Folks"

Theres definitely an ever growing list of questionable designs going on with this car and its still got its camo on lol! I wouldn't be surprised if there will be even more once official reveal and multiple angles are shown.

Big grille not too bad given the doom and gloom.

However, the location of the front ACC sensor (lower drivers side grille) is just awkward.

Even under camo it looks imposing and very aggressive. Amazing.

It's also rather amazing that they're selling a sedan with 500HP, RWD, and a manual transmission in 2020. Is anyone else is doing this? Not that I know of. Enthusiasts and purists are happy. On the other hand, some are losing their minds over a grill.

I do like the rear of the M3 more from these shots. Seems to have a wider look, wider pair of shoulders.

Only one other manufacturer is: Cadillac. The CT5 Blackwing will get the supercharged 6.2L V8 (LT2), and the CT4 Blackwing will get a twin-turbo V6 (exact engine currently unknown). Both are RWD with optional manual transmission.

Yes, this has been my point all along, not too long ago it was posted on the front page of this site that there would be no manual. The grille will grow on people, can be altered, or just order a darker color, but the inclusion of a manual make this car very unique in today's landscape.

I always liked that bmws tend to hide the tanks in their cars, this one seems to break with that. Prototype problems?

I think that the Audi designs actually look good now. But looking back at those original big grille designs they made, the evolution has been positive. But in light of these new designs from BMW, I have been noticing Audis more, and am more impressed by what they’ve done to make them look much better.

Mercedes has also enlarged the grilles on their cars, and depending on your taste, they either look progressive, or hideous.

Lexus maintains the large fugly grille design across their lineup. While it is no longer shocking, I think it’s still fugly.

But the latest BMW designs (7 Series, X7, this new 4 Series, even the X6) are really not appealing at all. I’m reminded of the final Camaro/Firebird designs in the early 2000s (before they killed off the cars), where they became caricatures of themselves. I see these new BMW designs in the same vein...caricatures of BMW features. Almost cartoonish.

So sad...

I think the key will be to order the car in black.

I wonder how it'll compare to the M8 comp they had along for the ride.
