That's not quite how the math works. See post above.

Agreed I made a mistake there. Correcting it I get around 200 lbs added on the front and 100 lbs added on the rear vs the F80 using the official numbers. I guess that does qualify as “most of the weight”

Put a girl in the trunk and strap a man on the hood on your F80 and voila you got a G80...

UMMMM, I think you would buy a GTR for a road course also? That is if you don't want to be last all the time I agree, My GTR is my favorite car I ever had to look at. But, it's such a bad mother fucker.

Or buy a built used one for mid 90's and pretty much destroy anything on the road. If that's what you are aiming to do

Which will be the case for the G8X yes its not a looker for most people but people will still buy it. I would buy a 340I before buying a GTR don't wanna be the 100th GTR at the car meet showing everyone how far my flames can go.
OK. I have both cars. Of course at a car show you will see a bunch of GTRs. That being said, If I see 1 every 2 weeks that's a lot. WAY MORE m3/m4's running around than GTRs. That is FACT. That for me is one reason I like my GTR. I barely see any around!!! Just in my neighborhood there are 3 M4 Say what you want about the GTR. Thank god Nissan did bring it out. It shook up the Scene like crazy. Everyone has been playing catch up ever since. Plus, if you haven't been in one and hit rolling anti-lag with 950 FT/lbs ready to go It's SICK. Nothing like surprising some street bikes on the Atlantic City expressway every summer. It never gets old

The OP didn't say “People will be all over it when it runs XXX road coarse times” so thats not really a relevant point in the discussion.

But yes obviously the GTR is also faster around a road course.

The ‘wow’ factor in a GTR will always be much higher than a 3-series. On top of that, the GTR has broken records worldwide with quickest 60-130mph of 1.59s, YES 1.59S. It has the record for the fastest drift at over 300km/h. It runs mid 6s in the 1/4mile, there are 2000hp+ street machines with full interiors lol. Its a vicious performance car that can be docile.... anyways

And yet nobody buys them. They haven't sold over 500 in the US in a single year since 2015 (241 sold this year) and even its peak year of sales (1730) was less than Corvettes sell in any single month of the year. Props to Nissan for building the best performance car that nobody loves.

Bro, your preaching to the choir. Sales still better than the BMW I8 or NSX. M8 sales suck as well. I like the M8 and NSX. Who cares, the GTR is a performance icon that has proven itself.... I love my Huracan but would never be dumb enough to underestimate the value of a GTR

Apparently bmw owners, half this thread has been about how the new m3/m4 will hit 9s with e85 etc, then the bmw owners started the comparison to the GTR. When the facts started coming out how the GTR has broken 60-130mph/drift records and has hit mid 6’s in the 1/4 when the f80 m3 is still in the 9s the focus moved from performance to poor sales etc lol....

i don't think this platform is going to be as tuneable for awhile as they'll likely get the new bosch ecus, i believe.

yes the x3m with s58 is tuneable but its still f series.. this is the new g series, lets see.

You're just hammering home the reason I mentioned GTR in the first place. Drag racing M3s is meh and there are much better platforms if that is your goal.

For me personally I can't get over 500 extra pounds, you can't tune that out. Losing 500 pounds is not easy. The weight alone is why I decided against the M5. I like cars that handle well more so then cars that are fast in just a straight line. If I wanted straight line speed I'd buy a Tesla, but try driving that tank around a track.

It seems that BMW is going the American car route in which a car is fast around a track because its fast in the straights. Even German suspension magic, sticky rubber and HP can't beat physics.

All depends on what you are after and what you enjoy out of a vehicle.

I still think this is a dumb thread that represents a bunch of weirdos that want to run sub 9s or 7s or 6s 1/4miles or whatever in their M3s.

Poor sales because the M3 can't keep up with the GTR's uber drift records?

It's more likely poor sales because people are moving away from high performance sports cars and moving towards SUVs and trucks as well as more economical and affordable options. There's an umbrella of reasons why people aren't buying the M3 in the same numbers as F-150s, but it has nothing to do with the GTR.

I mentioned poor sales because nobody really cares about the GTR. In a BMW forum it seems like a waste of time to make comparisons a vehicle that nobody buys or cares about. The Porsche comparisons I get but GTR? Who cares?
