The transmission tune is nice to have for faster shifting but is not mandatory.

Not really necessary but I think it’s worth it once you get in to the 700hp range. Paul Johnson worked with them on v1.4 to help with launch. I moved to v1.5 and it’s even smoother.
The M4 GT3 car runs XHP so I figure they know a thing or two
