The swaybar is different and there may also be a different or additional lower tie bar / reinforcement plate on the CSL that many videos mention without specific detail.
I would have to guess that the upper brace on the normal cars was a price thing. Both pieces are about 100usd iirc. The CSL brace is 1100 with parts department markups. Tubular aluminum vs cast aluminum. I would have to guess it's a little bit stiffer but not enough to merit the price increase from the dual bar unit.

The front subframe is boxed welded aluminum and the lower skid plate is a deformed aluminum plate that is welded under tension connecting the front frame rails, subframe and the rocker rails. Just based on the overall construction of the CSL parts being a megacasting welded in two halves it will be a decent bit stiffer than the dual setup. Is the underside stiffening not enough especially with the very stiff cast strut towers? I don't think you'll notice.

I did order one though because it looks sick as hell, merits be damned.

[EDIT] And remember, sway bars do not affect the torsional rigidity of the chassis, just the roll resistance of the suspension system. Stiffer bars could in theory require chassis stiffening to stop the frame rails from moving vertically under roll... But you'd have to have something made out of lukewarm butter.

I agree with moproblems

I think the CSL brace to "the best design" part BMW were willing to make and the regular part is "cheaper" alternative to save cost, it doesn't mean it's not doing a job. This situation is similar to the difference between the OG M2 (small cheap steel brace) to the M2C (M4 alu-carbon brace) Everyone was raving good the suspension improvements were on the M2C but there were none, the only difference were the brace and heavier engine/brakes.

My guess is the CSL brace is the one that will provide support to the G8x chassis in the best possible way BMW engeneers designed it. I would highly doubt any negative effects come up with the better brace. It could lead to a little more stress going to the suspension/tires instead of the frame but it's often a good thing since the suspension is the part that is there to work rather than the chassis, I've always felt better and more confident in cars that had a stiff chsssis.

A stiff chassis has no cons outside of weight, as long as there is actual merit to the parts. Less unintended movement of the suspension pickups to keep geometry exactly where it is supposed to be is always good. I can't wait to hear how "planted" it makes the car feel on the street from people who don't know better.

I do not track my car, and want this for the looks. Pure and simple. That said...I am going to post about how much more planted it feels in stop and go traffic...jkjk

So long as there aren't noticable negative consequences for street driving (either handling, feel, or damage/reliability concerns) I'm happy.

Kind of like the BMS intakes....I couldn't care less if they give or lose ten HP, nor would I ever be able to tell on the street. But man do they sound sweet!

I think with this lower front axle thrust plate, you're not going to have to worry about stiffening the lower shock towers. This thing is pretty stout.

I have Armaspeed carbon fiber intakes on my car and based on their design & the brace design, they will easily fit together NP.

I'm wondering the same thing.. I just installed the Armaspeed intake, no covers, and seems like the CSL brace "should" fit.

No, this is from another thread. This was just added to the thread, to show what fits with the CSL strut brace.

Was told yesterday the CSL compatible Eventuri intake update is about 2 months out. Anyone waiting on this?

I had a quick back and forth with Bilal, who said it’s almost complete. This would line up with what Bilal had also told me. I’ll likely go this route if it’s going to be this soon.

Big question is, can current G8X intake customers just buy the parts, IE nearside filter assembly, only, since that’s the part that doesn’t fit with our current systems, or can we send our nearside filter assembly in for some sort of credit toward the one that fits with the CSL brace?

This I am not currently sure of. It will be something that Eventuri will announce nearer release.

Looks like the white runner pipe (longer) and the rear filter housing (shorter) are different in design. The standard runner pipe also has mount tabs, not clear how this version will fasten. Thanks for the update, can't wait to order - please make available in matte!

Fastens in the exact same way as the current Intake System and OE setup, it's just hidden by the brace.
