M3 order might turn into LCI
Hi guys, first time posting anything on the forum. I placed an order back in February 2022 for an Xdrive M3, and it occurred to me yesterday that the pre-LCI models will be out of production by July. I’m still not fortunate enough to have received a production date and the dealer said I should expect it in the coming months which would probably mean I get bumped up to a MY2023 car. The issue is I dislike the LCI rumours because of the new cabin, and hate the fact that physical buttons are being removed in favour of ‘modern’ screen controls. I also don’t know if they might add some options that were not available prior to the LCI that I would’ve liked to include in my original build. What I’m basically debating on is whether or not I should take back my deposit and just go buy a 2022 car, even if the spec isn’t exactly how I wanted it.

Things are not looking good as even some MY22 allocations are being pushed to MY23.
BMW might be revealing MY23 updates shortly and I am sure we will here those updates here as soon as they are out. You might be able to take a decision based on that. |

If I could have found a build I would have been happy with I would have grabbed instead of waiting. Do you think it will be easy to find one? You're going to be paying a premium for sure.
I agree with the idea that it's all speculation at this point still though. |

I would just hold your slot until you are able to find a MY22 that meets your criteria. MY23 getting the giant "ipad' is still all rumors at this point.

I've also just been informed that MY22 builds will evidently continue well into July (w/b 18th still falls before the switchover to MY23) so even if you get an allocation beyond Week 27 you may still be safe from that screen...!

If this was true, we might have seen already other members reporting their build weeks beyond 26.

It's a given that BMW is forcing ID8 upon us. OP I would grab a MY '22. The 2nd minor LCI when the G82/83 has the LCI. Don't expect any new features until after the M4 CLS and M3 CS is released—BMW M is not going to cannibalize the high profit upcoming limited edition models.

I'm usually one of those people that likes the newest and latest version of something. This is one of those times where I don't like the change, and I don't think I'm going to get used to it.
The new dash is fine in the electric cars, but it just feels so out of place and wrong in a focused sports car like the M3 (particularly the manual transmission ones). I'm very glad my car got built prior to the LCI. The one feature that I am the tiniest bit sad about missing out on is the augmented reality navigation display. That is some really cool tech!

If that is the final setup, it's pretty god awful. It literally looks like two iPads tacked to the dash next to each other. They couldn't even splurge and integrate them into the dash with some kind of cowl? That is unacceptable for a 6 figure car, let alone a Toyota Camry. Who woke up and thought that was a good design? Really hoping for a miracle and that this is still some kind of test mule interior and not a final production set up...

They just announced the LCI 3-series today with the same curved dash. You're dreaming.

People said the same thing about the grills when this car came out and now all of the sudden everyone wants one, I don't think it really matters, it's the way of the future. This dash will eventually come to all G8X cars for LCI. However, I'm still one of the few who really doubts that 2023 will be the LCI for the M3. The M3 CS mule being spied has that curved dash and that's slated to be a 2024 model. There's been no real evidence or leaks showing ID8 on a 2023 M3. M3 is not a normal 3 series so can't compare those update to update.
