G82 XDrive snow/ice in the PNW

Here in the PNW (Pacific Northwest) we have some snow/ice with the temps over the last few days between 14F and 28F. Granted only about 4-5 in of snow/sleet but out here the state/county does not plow ANYTHING or apply deicing agents on the roads. (except may some stretches of freeway (expressway for those back east)).

Today I had to get groceries and took my car out. Man even with the Pirelli P0 tires, the xDrive tears it up in the snow… I had to push it intentionally to see how the car would react with over/under/steer which corrected itself quite readily with knowledge of how to drive in the snow (I grew up in MI so I know these things) The car keeps straight as an arrow in these conditions (in comfort mode in 4WD with DSC on etc.) With some good snow tires the G8X would be as good as a 4wd SUV!

I love my M4 comp x-drive even more!

Summer P0's are shit in actual snow. Slush, yeah they will be "drivable". Get those on some packed snow or icy roads and you'll be in the ditch.

Don't fool yourself, summer tires are bad for snow and ice. Get all seasons or winter if that is needed. Or just leave the car in the garage.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! We have some snowy weather here right now, nothing too bad in Maryland, but I spec’d all wheel just for this. The off chance I do have to deal with a little snow and such, will do just fine. I get my car next week, for now running the X5 out here, she’s a beast.
