r33_RGSport - I was quoting for installation and the installer warned me that many of these low-dust pads cause premature rotor warping. Have you heard anything about this?

Nope.
Been selling the iSweep since 2021, no single rotor warping.
I also been using Hawk brake pad on my Porsche for many years. No issue.
AFAIK, rotor warping is due to improper braking habit.
In my lifetime after so many years, I only experienced warp rotor on my G30 Brembo kit. My opinion is not proper heating and cooling since I opted for biggest rotor and the car is G30 540 where doesn’t have enough power and weight.

I have many guys that are on their 3rd and 4th set of brake pads already. No warped rotor reported.
Maybe you want to find another installer that understand better about car. No offense to that shop.

"Warped rotors" are pretty difficult to achieve. Most of the time when people say "my rotors are warped" what they are experiencing is uneven pad deposit on their rotors. And a good hard scrubbing and re-bedding usually can cure this up.

(telling the OP, I'm sure you know this).

Question for you though: I know you are the importer of iSweep pads, and also sell RBC Red Stuff. Which do you recommend for general street driving with the occasional backroad blast and no track?

iSweep IS2000 is my favorite for street and backroad blast uses.
Unfortunately, I never got a chance to try EBC. Right when I have a car that EBC is available, took them over a year yet still can't fulfill my order.
When G80 out, all of my local customers doesn't even want to touch EBC Yellow even I offered a good discount to give it a try.

Thank you for the thoughts here. I was confused a bit by the warped rotors comment and I think they were trying to say BMW designed them that way for a reason (heavy dust). But glad to hear of no issues reported after multiple sets. The current squeaky brakes are driving me more nuts than the dust.

Thanks. What’s your thoughts on the difference in feel between the 1500 and 2000? Also, what’s your stock date look like?

I would say 10% more bite than IS1500.
Currently IS1500 is back in stock, but running low pretty fast since I have a lot of pre-orders.

Feeling more confident about getting the iSweep 2000 pads now. Just surprised that you said they only provide 10% more breaking power / stopping force than the 1500 pads Ben r33_RGSport Would've thought they were roughly 20% more potent pads.

I asked about feel. He said 10% more bite. That's not the same as braking power or stopping force. Bite is really just how grabby they feel when you initially apply the pedal.

In reality, braking power on modern performance cars is limited by contact patch size and weight, not actual brake hardware. The higher performance pads will be more resistant to fade with repeated high stops / track use.

In my 997 Turbo S with PCCB's, they had the most amazing bite I've ever felt. You could really modulate low braking efforts with just a twitch of your toe. But overall the braking force when you really needed to haul it down wasn't any better than the steel brake equipped cars. I learned that Porsche engineered the compound on the first gen PCCB's (in my car) to feel that way for drivers to feel like the PCCB's were "worth it" vs. the steels. LOL. Marketing.

There is no real scientific data on the differences.
But IS2000 have more bite and braking power than IS1500.
Since the last time you were thinking about iSweep, I already imported and sold over 100 sets, lol. (Just for this car application).

This has been closer to my experience. I've only been on the 2000s for a couple of days, but they have better response at low pedal pressure than the 1500s. There were a couple times on the 1500s that I had to "oh crap" stab the pedal when I wasn't slowing fast enough using (what I consider) a "normal" street braking technique. Small sample size, but so far the same "normal" street braking technique with the 2000s now slows the car better and more predictably.

It feels like more than a 10% difference. That's a butt powered brakometer, not the real scientific data that r33 is talking about.

I’m now a few months post install of Isweep 2000 pads and love them. Zero noise, not one squeak, they brake like stock, and probably 80% dust reduction. Best mod there is.

Yup, that’s about how I advertise them…I’ve been saying it’s hard to gauge the percentage of dust reduction, and saying it’s about 70%, but yeah, incredible difference, no squeaking EVER or any other noise for that matter, and I personally think they break wayyy better than stock, but def up to the user.

Here's some pictures, iSweep 1500s in the front, EBC Red stuff in the rear.

First two pictures are the front + up close, second two are the rear + up close.

Wheels were last cleaned over 300 miles ago.

Kudos to Berzerker for the pix!!! The dust on your IS1500 fronts looks almost white or light gray. The RedStuff rears look a tiny bit brown and maybe 30-50% dustier versus the fronts. Seems like IS1500 is the “visual winner” versus EBC Reds.

Why can’t BMW find a better stock pad than the damn Texas Tar brownies? It would be great if stock were ceramic pads and they offered one good factory track-pad option.

My Front IS2000s are in-hand and my rears have shipped.

Keep in mind, there's a bedding process that will dust a bit more the first hundred or so miles than the rest of the time.

I'm also not confident the cleaning was good when done (it wasn't done by me lol), so it my be old dust from the brembos.

The rear brakes also get used far more than the front, so it should dust a bit more.

Sorry if this was addressed - I've read that these 1500 or 2000 are not recommended for track use. Can I ask why not? Even compared to the stock pads?
