Brake pads and rotors list

I've compiled a list of replacement pads and rotors for steel brakes, if you see any errors or would like to add some more just post below and i'll add it to the list.
Surprisingly i also managed to find some aftermarket front rotors for $300, although it looks like its a one piece design unlike the oem two piece with an aluminum hat.
Would be nice if there were more options, i hear ebc is working on some https://ebcbrakes.com/race-motorspor...-m3-m4-models/

Since this thread is becoming a great source for pads and rotors, here is the install video we made last week

Thanks for the video. A couple of observations:

Seems like the rears are the screw and compress piston. Many have said they aren’t.

I don’t’ know why they didn’t design the front calipers for a quicker pad change. Maybe the large mono block caliper needs the brace which prevents it.

Your guy got me cringing letting the rear caliper hang by the brake line along with pounding those pins out in the front. Not good for all the pretty colors our calipers come in.

I don't' know why they didn't design the front calipers for a quicker pad change. Maybe the large mono block caliper needs the brace which prevents it.

Your guy got me cringing letting the rear caliper hang by the brake line along with pounding those pins out in the front. Not good for all the pretty colors our calipers come in.
Ya, pad changes look real cumbersome. My previous Lexus ISF had front 6 pot Brembos that made pads a breeze to change. They had a removable metal "clip" where our solid brace is.

Me and you both
Is there a better method to getting the pins out? I used this method on F80 and made a couple dings on the blue (turned greenish-brown) caliper over the years…

Welcome any better ways!

Thank you for this! Are the dynamic friction 3000 not available for front for the steel brakes?

On buybrakes it says for carbon ceramic rotors

Correct, I remeber some people bought them but the fit was wrong. They still worked but sat much closer to the centre, not recommend.

Does anyone know the life expectancy of the rear brakes? I'm assuming it's a bit longer than the fronts.

I was hoping I can forgo the rears when it comes time to do the fronts. Thoughts?

Other way around for most BMWs (rears wear out first).

It will be depending on how you drive.
If you use cruise control (especially active cruise control), the computer will use more of the rear brake to control the car.
If you do canyon or track with DSC on, the computer will use rear brake to control the car.

Normal driving, it will be pretty close.

Thanks! Interesting to know! I never use CC and take DSC off at track and on spirited runs. I'll have the dealer take a look at brake life at my 10k mile service, which is coming up in the next month or two.

Planning on a different pad to alleviate the squeal and dust so wanted to knock it out at the same time.

Mike,

Do you have any estimate when EBC Red will be back in stock, both front and rear?
And do you guys charge CC immediately or when the order ships?

EBC red rear is in stock and ready to ship
EBC red front is made to order; you must place an order and wait for them to build it. The average wait time is three months

We charge the card as soon as you place the order.

To add to the list;
Paragon brakes makes two piece rotors which you only have to replace the rings.
Much more economical than any other option out and I’ve found they help keep brake temps downs aswell.

Anyone running the Carbotech fronts and StopTech rears? Some folks on Facebook are raving about them and how low dust they are. I’m debating getting them prior to taking delivery to my car and getting them swapped in right away. I was going to spend $200+ to ceramic coat my wheels but maybe I just go with low dust pads instead.
