I agree and see it as a HUGE positive. The M sport 340 and 440 looked eerily similar especially with the M brakes. A lot of people complain the car lost the sleeper look...not sure why anyone would want to drive a sleeper but apparently many do (because they would never simply complain for the sake of complaining).

it's always a matter of taste.

I personally don't give a damn if someone recognizes my car or gives me a thumb up. Of course it's cool but I bought the car for myself.

I would also have bought an F80 without even thinking about if it stands out compared to the "normal" versions of it. Especially the M3 is still very recognizable because of the fender flares.

But hey, here I am with a G80 and yes there were some people looking at my car or even talk with me about my car, but swiss people are in general very passive compared to other countries so they don't overrun you

I've had my car for 7 hours and had 3 guys stop me to talk about it and tell me how much they like it.

It rained all day and I'm only halfway home so mostly so far I only have cell phone pics, but here's one. Pics don't seem to do this color justice. I thought it was just a deep rich blue until the sun finally came out around the time I got to Knoxville and discovered there it seems to have a slight hint of turquoise in the sunlight. It's a beautiful color.

Here it was in the rain at the Zentrum

And one at the hotel in Knoxville

G80 Dravit Grey owner here:

Took delivery of the car on April 3rd.

As of now, I've received
-23 thumbs up (haha yes I decided to tally these for fun until the end of summer)
-6 stops in parking lot plazas to answer questions about the car
-3 phone videos of the car while driving (that I'm aware of)
-4 street race refusals (break-in period)

It's definitely a head-turner. Like most of the comments on this thread, the people usually say "it's such a mean-looking car" or "looks so much better in person." Also noticed passing cars that would slow down and rotate around the car, probably for videos or photos.

had the car for 20 minutes pulling into my parking garage, guy yells "holy shit that's the new one, awesome!" I got two head turns one with a thumbs up at lunch today. Talked to a group of some people at work about it, all non-enthusiasts but "can tell its fast" lol.

Just picked up the car and in 2 hours had three people give me the thumbs up. One guy on the free way wound down his window and started hanging out of the window waving at me and giving me the thumbs up

It really does have some serious presence in person

I came out of work today to a woman stopped with her window rolled down taking pics of it. She drove off before I got up to talk to her about it. Stopped by the dealer after work. I did PCD so no one there had seen it and they haven't had any M4's there yet, only a brief stay M3 months ago. Everyone came out to marvel at it and take pics.

If BMW's intent was to illicit reactions with this car's styling, they have succeeded in spades. It's been an EVERY drive occurrence. I've been stalked for miles by a kid in a Smart car (he took pictures at every stop light and ended up turning around in the BMW dealership parking lot when I went for my break-in service). Thumbs up's, fingers pointing, Uber and Lyft drivers taking pictures, cops asking me about it (relayed that story earlier), and so many excited STI drivers that I lost count. No way I can say how many of them liked it or hated it, but the thing is not a sleeper.

Even with the M2C, I've never owned anything that draws this much attention. It's a little uncomfortable, actually.

I'm in the market, soon as the Xs come out. Which dealer did you go through? I live in Stafford so my nearest is BMW Alexandria.

This is the first car I've owned that got a thumbs up from a group of Cops directing traffic.

Saw my first one in the wild the other day from afar comin' up from way behind on the highway. Thought it was a mean lookin' dodge charger with those two hood stripes at first, but once it got a little closer I could make out the grill and I could tell it was the new M3. Gave a good thumbs up to the guy drivin' it !

Thanks. The color is SOOOooooooo beautiful in person. It's just a unique blue that really stands out, especially in the bright sunlight. Working on some video of it now.

3 people came up to me in the Costco parking lot today in a matter of 5-10min. One employee said his buddy in the store told him to come check out the car and make sure it was an M4 and tell me how great it was. Another guy was walking by as I was pulling out and I saw him take a pic so I stopped to chat. "That's the new one right?" he said. And then there was a father daughter that told me how nice it was.
