It's going to look worse with American license plates in front. So far, all I've seen are the European skinny plates on pictures.

Who knew with a little leftover gutter mesh from home depot that you could design a grille?

I just can't get past the grills no matter how long I look at them. I don't mind big grills if executed properly, but to me they just don't match the overall look of the car. I saw this on another site today, the CSL Concept grills would have looked so much better on this car. At least there is some flow and design, I like the tapered V shape much better than the actual product.

Kids say the darndest thing

My son saw a commercial of new 4 series with The Grill....

He just looks at me and says...Dad that new BMW is UGGGGGGLY.

What's interesting to me is he likes cars like McClarens that I don't find attractive. BMW has been able to make two generations dislike it.

So, I am Porsche fanboy turned on to BMW by the F87 M2C . . . great car I enjoy driving every day.

Ready to explore the BMW legend . . . going all in with the G80 M3C.

So, simple questions for those in the know . . . when (1) do we anticipate the G80 will be up on US website for build and (2) will BMW start allocating chassis builds to US dealerships??

Here's to hoping that many current F80 owners like the G80 in order to:
1 - keep BMW in the money
2 - have them let loose of all their tasty low mile F80s that should be hitting the market over the next 18 months

Yes I do - LOVE Nardo - that's the prize the G80 will offer - but me personally still need 4 doors in my life at this point.

Coming from an F82 M4 I still don't like the grills and the hood looks like a dodge charger hood. Maybe mods one day will help but I feel like they missed the mark on this. I like progression of design based on function but to keep the design staples like the power dome hood, quad exhaust, wide fenders, rear window kink and the side profile of the car having one shoulder line. Not to mention the car is 400 lbs heavier than the last M3/M4. And last you can't get a comp with a manual... My M4 was comp and manual. BMW talks about giving options and they do but they are forgetting the true enthusiasts. I have been into BMW since my dad had a m coupe with the s54 and manual. Also I am 27 years old and if it was meant to target me they did a poor job. Would rather seen a modern take on traditional design features.

I have also had an e46 M3 comp and daily a E38 740il and loved both. Maybe have to stick with older BMW's till I can afford an F90 M5 and a GT3 lol

I'm at the dealer now, and they have 2 new 440i's...one with the blacked out grill and one with the standard chrome ring around it.

And you know what?

It's actually not that bad, especially the blacked out one. It's not quite as polarizing as the pictures, and I can definitely see over the next 2 years how it will just blend into the design...especially once the aftermarket finds ways to revise it a bit. And I am one that really disliked it in pix, hated the front end. Not any more. Still not beautiful, but I can definitely see how it will not be a deal breaker for many.

I remember when Audi's first introduced their audacious grille back in like 2004 or 2005 on the A8 I think, I thought that would be the end of Audi. People would eventually stop buying them. Not only did that NOT happen, but after a few years, the Audi grille just became part of the design. Hec, I'd buy an Audi today with that big grille, as the grille has long stopped from being offensive to me.

And if Lexus' monstrosity can survive and people are still buying their cars and SUVs, then BMW's grille will soon be mainstreamed as well.

I'll give BMW credit for fearlessness, because like Audi back in 2004, BMW knew it would be 100% controversial.

But in person, yes, still polarizing, but so was Audi's and Lexus/Toyota's, and time moved on. Within 18 months, most will be moving past the grille. And for those that don't, the aftermarket will find ways to tweak it and revise it so we can still enjoy BMWs.

Interesting times...

NO ONE is going to lose their insurance as a result of a cosmetic mod. I've added spoilers, diffusers, wider fenders, spacers, headlight modifications, air dams, etc. etc. etc. I'm in the auto insurance world, and I can tell you for a fact that cosmetic mods have ZERO impact on insurance.

If you disabled your safety features, or removed your bumpers totally, or drove drunk, THAT would impact your insurance.

Yes, cosmetic mods won't affect your insurance - but that basically only includes changing the color of your car. Also, a widebody (you literally cut into your car to attach them), a full new front bumper (will change pedestrian safety etc.), headlight modifications (you can blind other drivers and cause an accident) or taillight tint (others can't see your indicators/brake light) are not just a cosmetic mod like e.g. wrapping your car and you will get at least a partial fault in an accident if the other party sues you.

It depends on where you live. In Germany/most of Europe, every non OEM/homologated mod is illegal - hence you will lose insurance (even just changing the rims). You have to prove your modification will not affect the safety or emissions of the car (usually by a destructive test, of course the manufacturer of the item can do those tests for that item and give you a certificate, that those items are safe and will be manufactured with the same quality, so you don't have to do the tests again). But of course there is no speed limit here and I am very very thankful you can't legally drive some of the monstrosities you see on US roads. I don't want to lose my life because some Idiot thinks he has to go 200mph with his homemade piece of crap "car" (look at B is for Build or other similar YT channels).

In many states in the US this is similar (not all of them). Just because nobody cares, doesn't mean it's not illegal (e.g. looking at all the cat-deletes etc.)

This is what the new M4 should've looked like, minus the electric blue kidneys!!!

Still modern, still aggressive, still BMW, but just a way better cleaner cooler design!

This exterior design 🖤 would've been F-ing killer!!!🤘🏻

I think there are two reasons for the design failure

1front the place where the headlight connects to the grille looks very stupid

2back same reason

I think so too. That thing looks horrible, bulky....almost like a steam engine locomotive. Hard pass!
