Truthfully, how hard is it to install? I've seen the videos, but from your experience, how was it?

It's very easy. Took me 15-20min to install. It's hard to screw it up.

I’m definitely getting this. I’ll find a carbon fiber engine cover to go along with this carbon fiber intake and the carbon fiber bars and the engine compartment will look bad ass. Complete.

Here you go. You will need to carry over your decal from the stock covers.

I’ve seen that my friend. No one knows when it’s coming out and I’ve never heard of that company. Neither have some of the part shops I’ve called about it.

You're right. Only pre-orders.

Lol you can always do this as an alternative. Start at the 10:08 mark.

Interesting comment about the idle. When I had a BMS intake on my F82 M4 back in 2014, it idled funny as well. It would dip hard at times and chug itself back. When I took it off, my car idled normal again.

Ive heard a few reports that the BMS intakes cause a rough idle. Which was my experience with BMS intakes on my prior 14 F82 M4.

How is your idle with the BMS intakes on your G8X?

So far so good, no rough idle. I've done a little under 1k miles on the intake and it feels just like stock unless I'm flooring it. The sound is intoxicating.

What was the cause of the rough idle, the filters?

I loved the sound of mine. Id like to buy another set. But since another member mentioned his G8X BMS intakes caused him a rough idle. And me experiencing it with my F8X BMS intakes. I am hesitant to buy them again.

Im not sure what causes it. I just know mine idled like normal once I removed them. If I had to guess... I would probably lean towards the MAS/MAF (whatever it is) sensor location.

Glad to hear yours is running fine. Mine would dip to point of staling and chug itself back. It wasn't consistent though. It would come and go at random.

My guess and it's just an assumption is probably due to the installation. I recall when I was installing the longer tube (for the right intake) I had to seat the tube multiple times since it felt very loose. The tube had play to it. On my final attempt I put some heavy pressure and it seated properly. I could have gotten away with the install where it was feeling loose but it just didn't sit right with me. I don't see how this intake is any different than all the other after market intakes out there. Nothing mechanical to it. Just tubes and filters.

The cold weather rough idle comes from airflow differences across the MAF sensors with high flow intakes. Some platforms are sensitive to it and some are not. F90 has no MAF sensors on intake at all so zero issues!

I used the BMS front-facing intakes for a few months and I just installed the MST intake.

No rough idle issue with either one
